@JasonDougled7d@Alex_Ortodoxie Non-denominationals are evangelicals, so they started out of faith in the gospel itself, not a corrupted tradition with Neoplatonism it its core, faith in the priesthood that puts grace into the material elements.
@TevinMacharia God knows everything and every choice we could make in every possible universe. This is the universe He chose to actualize. He gives us free will. He set up the circumstances that would maximize the glory of Himself and His heirs among humanity, the church of the firstborn.
@samueleyekosi Trichotomy. We are a spirit with a soul present in a body. The body dies, the soul goes into the ground because “the soul of the flesh is in the blood”. The spirit goes to the Father who made it. Resurrection rejoins the spirit to the new body and soul before the millennium.
@samueleyekosi No contradiction there. The whole discussion is how to treat poor congregants. Does it benefit anyone to say “praying for you, be warm, be filled” and withhold support? We know God will reward good deeds done in secret. Giving profits the giver and the getter, now and hereafter.
@ditchettdean Deut 30:16
Many times the reason for the giving of and keeping of the law is to preserve the nation of Israel distinct from other nations and present in the land. As a Christian, I am not part of that covenant.
@needGod_net It’s confusing that we’ve had 2000 years of Jesus ministering, apostles writing, churches spreading, yet truly so few understanding. It’s like they would rather work to deserve the free salvation than see they are spiritually impoverished and in need of one thing, Jesus as Savior
@BobbyMorri65268@JmraptureR The gospel just shifted from what we do to inherit the Kingdom to what Christ did to draw all people to Him. Grace prepares the soil to receive the seed of Kingdom.
@BobbyMorri65268@JmraptureR Exactly, the Gospel of the Kingdom included an offer to Israel of the Kingdom of Messiah on earth. The Jewish authorities rejected it, but the disciples continued to preach it, because far in the future it will come about. The Gospel of Grace extended the covenant to all.
@swamthetiber25 Jesus referred to the Sign of Jonah. That clinched it for me for the Book of Jonah. But I’m pretty sure this is about other books not considered canon by Evangelicals/Protestants.
@needGod_net What is this concept so hard for “Christians” to get? I heard once that the difference between heaven and hell is 10 inches, the distance from the head to the heart. But I think this concept is the real divider.
@AbaddonSpeaks If you read verse 6, Jesus explains what born of water means. Hint, not baptism. Anyone born of flesh has been born of water. What is needed is spirit birth. Not difficult to understand.
@ReformedToRome@Truth_matters20 I Cor 3 says otherwise. At the judgment of believers, their works are tested by fire, but they are saved. Those whose works are worthy receive reward. Salvation is the free gift of God, inheritance and reward is the prize Paul sought after.
@5SolasMissy If you are saved by faith in Jesus and don’t have a problem in any of these areas, your salvation is Biblical and you can not lose it. No matter what church has you on their rolls.
@5SolasMissy Three reasons to doubt your salvation:
Faith in the wrong Jesus (believing He isn’t flesh and blood human or that He isn’t eternal God)
Faith in keeping the law or loving God and neighbor 100% (rich young ruler passage, Good Samaritan passage)
Faith in sacraments (Neoplatonism)
@BrianWalsh67007@ChristandGuitar What were they told to teach and preach? The gospel about the King who came to save us. And baptism simply demonstrates the gospel: death, burial and resurrection. And faith in that gospel graces us with eternal life.
@swamthetiber25 Evangelicalism views salvation as more than being saved from Hell. We get that through faith in Jesus. We also participate in sanctification through faith in Jesus, we receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit by asking and receiving in faith. Justification is just the beginning
