I think that 2 things can be true.
1.) USA regulatory framework and general culture does much us wealthier than Europe.
2.)Most Americans are far too materialistic & consume so much dumb shït that they are stressed out & over extended on credit making their quality of life suck.
@politikazam At least the French lefties were acting out some broad philosophical “republic of virtue” fever dream that was at least an interesting concept.
They will probably cancel this man for refusing their demands to return the entire island of Manhattan to the Delaware Indians.
@politikazam He’s a modern day Danton, who is going to be turned on by the very radicals he helped empower. Yet who will be the Robespierre, the leader of the ultra-ultra radicals, that chop off his head? Probably that stupid new congresswoman elect, Darializa Avila Chevalier.
@Political_BAWss@RBMEllis Roberts is kicking the can down the road. Essentially saying if she is fired after the proceedings run their course the courts would likely have to more solidly define what “cause” is justifiable and that at least he and the three libs would lean in Cooks favor.
Roberts in Trump Vs. Cook word salading about the common law definition of “cause” and glazing the founding fathers statements about the First Bank of the US in 1791 trying to find some justification to stop the meltdown of the American banking system and world wide economy.
Because while it seems they also think she argues for too high a bar for what “at cause” is Trump’s definition is too broad and if he can’t come up with a more legit reason they probably side with her given the historic importance of central banking independence?
Ok lawyers. Did Roberts basically say in Cook can’t be fired right now because litigation is pending but if she is fired for the current “weak cause” Trump is alleging, if she challenged that in Court SCOTUS would likely revisit and fully define cause & likely side with her?
Peter Doocy claims "people are still coming out" to Trump's 250th fair -- even as the camera shot shows clearly behind him that almost nobody is there 😆
@Fremond_ About to go to Paris for my first time in September. Every American I know either seems to irrationally be obsessed / love it or absurdly hate it. Leaves me uneasy.
I’m a Francophile at heart though so even if the Parisians are mean to me I’ll probably still enjoy it.
@Eccentric0Eagle I mean depends where you go. Just like tone down any sort of 💅🏻 🌈 and you’d be fine probably.
I mean obviously lots of places you do have to avoid but the continent has “safe enough” areas.
@peejesq@LoganDobson Think one could argue 2nd or 3rd republic from a practical perspective.
The civil war and the 13,14,& 15th amendment. 2nd republic
And then the reforms of the progressive era (women’s suffrage, direct election of senators, rise of presidential primaries, etc.) 3rd republic
It was a pleasure to host Angela Merkel this morning at the @AtlanticPARTN.
As one of the most influential European political leaders of the past two decades, she has helped shape many of the debates that continue to define Europe today.
I wish US could have something like this but I’m sure we’d make the ceremony tacky & also put in Ronald McDonald, a confederate general, and Marsha P. Johnson.
France has aura, I love the Pantheon. Literally booked my hotel in Paris across the street from it for my trip in Sept.
France last night showed again its mastery of the public theatre of national tribute. This time, the Résistant and historian Marc Bloch entered the Panthéon. The “sprit of defeat” that he fought, said Macron, remains “the slow poison of our public life”
