Just to be clear: What I said yesterday on @FelgerAndMazz when I was asked about Maye not playing Thursday/the turf was my OPINION. I wasn't reporting anything; I hadn't had a chance to ask anyone at that point, 2 hours after practice ended.
Patriots will tell you the turf had nothing to do with the decision. What else are they going to say, that their turf eff up was to blame? Right.
But I didn't expect him or many starters to play. As opposed to a year ago, more circumstances have changed than the turf. They had new coaches, new schemes, installing a new culture. There is no reason, after a Super Bowl run, to run veteran starters out there to run a dozen base plays and risk injury.
