@boardyai A compass 🧭 will tell you where the direction is, but a map 🗺️ is what decides which direction to go for. At 8020North, we are the map and the compass for any business
Most founders lose the round before they walk in the room.
Not because the product is weak. Because the pitch, positioning, and valuation logic are broken in ways they can't see from the inside.
After advising 250+ startups globally, the same six things kill fundable companies:
1. Wrong category language
You describe features. Investors need to hear a category they can own in their mind. One sentence. Unmistakable.
2. Valuation without architecture
A number without a floor, a target, a stretch, and a multiple reference isn't a valuation. It's a guess.
3. Features instead of a moat
Runtime depth, context accumulation, distribution lock-in, compute economics — if you can't defend 3 of those layers, you don't have a moat story yet.
4. Wrong investor persona
The wrong fund, wrong stage, wrong thesis. Investor-founder mismatch is one of the most fixable reasons deals fall apart — and the most ignored.
5. Decks built to impress, not to convert
90% value proposition. 10% technicality. Problem and solution in mirror logic. One clear ask. Most decks have this backwards.
6. No "Discount to the Future" logic
Investors should enter today because tomorrow's proof unlock prices them out. That framing, built correctly, protects your cap table.
You can start fixing all of this in a single call.

Around a month ago, I was honored to receive an advance copy of Eric Ries’s new book, “Incorruptible”. Having spent the last few weeks diving deeply into the framework ahead of tomorrow’s official global launch, I can confidently say it is a masterclass for the modern business ecosystem.
This specific insight from the book hits hard:
"The good news is that we have overwhelming evidence that mission-driven organizations systematically outperform their conventional competitors... They are far more likely to endure over generations, not just quarters."
In a world obsessed with short-term optimization, building an organization that stays true to its core intention while outperforming the market isn't just idealistic—it's highly profitable strategic engineering.
Tomorrow is the big day. If you are looking to build a resilient, generational business, put this at the absolute top of your reading list.
Huge thanks to @ericries and the team for the early invitation to review this ahead of the curve.
