He quickly offers, omitting his last name for personal reasons. It was already enough that people addressed him as royalty from time to time. Dad didn’t need the unwanted attention.

“Not a big fan of the title in casual settings. Usually only the big meetings.”

He clears his throat. It’s obvious he’s a bit embarrassed; he expected to talk a bit longer but her reasoning is sound.

“ Nice meeting you too....? “ He lets the sentence hang briefly– expecting a name of some sort.

Missing person cases were common but each time they arose they seemed more terrifying than the last. Before becoming king, he’d made a living saving the lives of those in need. These situations were no different.

His veins course with energy– and a chorus of animals beneath the waves nearest perk their heads at his call.

He’s been on the wrong side of a few headlines before, so the badge (ironically) makes him sigh with relief. He even manages a 𝘨𝘳𝘶𝘧𝘧 smile.

He often wondered 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 exactly kept people in the city. Sentimentalities is as good a reason as any, but it doesn’t make certain parts of Gotham any better.

He asks, partially apprehensive of their interaction.

He stops, remembering the grimy water from beneath the city’s gritty streets.
