This article (which you can read if you register for free @The_Tablet is so important for me. We HAVE to love our neighbour as ourselves, as Jesus said - being compassionate & treating others with respect is absolutely essential for our humanity, it is a truth & protects us all.
After years of training, NHS doctors are being told there are no jobs for them & being dismissed as ājuvenile delinquentsā by @wesstreeting. This is not just a system under pressure; itās a system failing its own workforce.
This year, 30,000 doctors applied for just 10,000 NHS training posts. These posts are required for doctors to progress through their careers to become Consultants and GPs; and the NHS needs doctors at every stage to keep services running safely and sustainably.
But the Government has *capped the number of training jobs*.
The contributing effect on patients is already clear:
- long waiting lists
- delays in A&E
- weeks to see a GP
- months to access hospital specialists.
And all while thousands of doctors who want to work are unable to secure the training roles required to continue their careers within the NHS.
This is the part the public rarely hears:
you can fix waiting lists; but you need to allow doctors to progress through the system, rather than blocking them at the very points where the NHS needs them most.
Instead, a Labour Health Secretary has chosen to insult doctors rather than address the workforce planning crisis at the heart of these delays.
This is one of the reasons why resident doctors are taking further industrial action. Because how can the NHS deliver world class care while limiting the number of doctors able to move through training and contribute fully to patient care?
Patients need doctors. Doctors need fair access to the training posts that allow them to keep delivering care.
The current situation is the result of political choices and longstanding failures in workforce planning; and it must be addressed.
Beautiful boy Leo is looking for a cosy home in time for Christmas as sadly his owner has passed away.
Leo is very affectionate and a people cat. He loves a pet and gets on well with children. A home with no dogs please.
He has lived with another cat.
Leo is 6 years old. He is neutered and is both in door and outdoor cat. He likes to go outside but doesnāt usually venture far.
Leo eats dry and wet food and enjoys treats too.
He will sleep on the bed, sofa, a cat tree and blanket, so anywhere that is warm and comfortable.
Leo would suit someone who is on their own or a family.
For more information or to offer this lovely lad a forever home please email [email protected]
I would like us to remember the Lordās words: āTruly, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for meā (Mt 25:40). It is truly so! If we concretely love those who are hungry and thirsty, those without clothing, those who are sick, strangers, or prisoners, then we are loving the Lord.
Mabel is homeā¤ļøš¾
Her family are āover the moonā after their beloved spaniel was found alive after being dumped more than a hundred miles away - however her puppies remain missingš

Police have located Mabel, the King Charles Spaniel who was reported as being stolen in Coney West, in Kent after she had been dropped over a fence. The four puppiesā location is still unknown, and anyone with any information is asked to contact Suffolk Police: 37/68284/25.
Work with the Royal Society showed how wrong judges can be when interpreting forensic evidence. Juries make counsel work harder to explain and clarify. These āreformsā terrify me
@ukhomeoffice Why is it temporary? If they have been given refugee status they are deemed to have suffered greatly and have good cause to come, so why do this to them? It feels like performative cruelty. How can families settle & find work and contribute to the country, as you say you want?
I cannot believe we are in the crazy situation where patients can't see a GP because there aren't enough doctors... But there are UNEMPLOYED GPs sitting at home because GP surgeries aren't given enough funding to hire them! Somebody make it make sense!!!
Gill is going down for 10.5 years but the bigger picture is that UK is still at risk.
@CarolineLucas has been fighting for an inquiry into Russian interference with @allthecitizens since 2020.
Why on earth would the govt deny an inquiry now?? What possible reason does it have?

This is what we are having to deal with.
Itās inhumaneā¦No one is talking about itā¦using British citizens married to foreigners to get immigration numbers down.
Iām a British citizen and the U.K. government wonāt let my foreign wife live with me in the U.K.
I own my own house outright, (no rent no mortgage) Iām self employed, my wife is a university graduate, artist, illustrator that speaks three languages. They say we may be a risk to the welfare system because I donāt earn a skilled workerās salary. Imagine how this feels, my wife canāt live here because I dont earn a figure that my government plucked from the sky! We are paying Ā£500+ to rent an apartment in Turkey for my wife, plus utilities ect. Money that could stay in the U.K. (Annaās home country is Russia but left when Russia invaded Ukraine)
I keep getting told go and live in your wifeās countryā¦problem solved!
Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. advises against all travel to Russia due to the risks and threats from its continuing invasion of Ukraine, including:
security incidents, such as drone attacks, and Russian air defence activity
lack of flights to return to the UK
limited ability for the UK government to provide support
I would not be entitled to benefits and nor would my wife so whatās the risk?
I can not reinvest in by business because I have to show 29k profit, so the business suffers.
My wife canāt visit the U.K. on a tourist visa because the U.K. government feels Anna may overstay her visa! The only way is for me to visit Anna. When Iām not working Iām not earning, so how do I get to the 29k.
To live with my wife I will have to sell up and leave the U.K. This is how the U.K. government discriminates against its own citizens. Itās called MIR. As for the astronomical visa fees, which the government can not answer how they came up with such a figure, nor can they say what itās spent on. Family visa for being married to a British citizen Ā£1846. (The money left over from the processing of the visa should be refunded) in retail or trade keeping the money and not been able to give a detailed receipt would be illegal and trading standards would be involved.
For example to issue a Schengen visa fee to visit 29 countries ā¬90ā¦.make that make sense.

Campaigners for assisted suicide are fond of telling us it has "massive public support"
I disagree & in my experience as an opponent of assisted suicide, the more people learn about the subject, the less they support it

I was told my 1 week bereavement leave had to be unpaid while I came back to resume my on call duties. Do you have to take a pay cut when your family member passes away too @wesstreeting ?? While dealing with life and death everyday??Highly doubt it.
Iāve been doing some sorting out and realised my collection of pretty letter stickers was bigger than I thought.
And then I had an idea for a slightly funky Christmas card.
Hugh O'Flaherty, an Irish Catholic priest, saved approximately 6,000 Allied soldiers and Jews in Nazi-occupied Rome during World War II.
Operating from the safety of the Vatican, he masterminded a vast underground network of safe houses, farms, and convents to shelter those in peril.
Despite relentless Nazi attempts, they never succeeded in capturing him.
Awaabs Law HAS to be extended to the millions of renters in the private sector but also temporary accommodation, where Iāve seen first hand, so many vulnerable families continue to suffer, living in slum accommodation.
