Next, Loe Feijs tells us about "Visual Representation of Inhibition for Phyllotaxis." (https://t.co/nNSmOGrFNn) A fascinating journey, starting from Fibonacci Numbers and sunflower shapes, taking us all the way to the "Inhibiscus" shape. (2/3)

[Dr. Martin Skrodzki @msmathcomp]

The last talk for today is by Fahreddin Basegmez, who tells us about "Symmetries of Prime Factors." (https://t.co/8Io7cTeRpW) He presents a fascinating zoo of intricate #MathArt shape assemblies. (3/3)

Short paper session in the afternoon at the @BridgesMathart conference has:
Marta Kopyt "Math through books", Gary Lester "Art as Math Representation", David Reimann "LEGO to communicate Math", and Chris John "Making Kolam Accessible". Wonderful ideas for playful #MathArt.

The first plenary talk at the @BridgesMathart conference today is by children’s book author Amy Alznauer. (https://t.co/r2lKxhMaiu) She wrote a book on Ramanujan and has a new one on Marjorie Rice, which looks great! You can find it here:

The third and final talk of the day is given by Robin Houston, who is looking into the mathematics of designing "Caltrops". (https://t.co/HWCWYz3V6D) He shows us a surprising variety of 3D-printed caltrops. (3/3)

[Dr. Martin Skrodzki @msmathcomp]

The second talk is by Sabetta Matsumoto, "On the Group Structure of 'Magic' Leatherworking Braids." (https://t.co/usX4bPcsjI) She teaches us how to create magic braids ourselves (which, even with instructions, is surprisingly challenging). (2/3)

The final activity for this day at the @BridgesMathart conference is the "Formal Music Night". It is led by "The Irish Dance Experience" and takes place in the wonderful Quadrangle Building of the Galway University campus. We get to try a Céilí and a Riverdance. Great fun!

The first talk in the second afternoon session at the @BridgesMathart conference is by Henriette Lipschütz, Ulrich Reitebuch, and me, speaking about our paper "Borromean Braid Crossings from the Triaxial Grid." (https://t.co/6cu6dxKtbP) Happy to answer questions on this. (1/3)

[Dr. Martin Skrodzki @msmathcomp]

The first afternoon session of the @BridgesMathart conference is dedicated to space-filling curves. Kicking us off is Shengyi Wang, with the talk "From Patterns to Maze Solutions: An SMT-Based Construction." (https://t.co/icr8apPJpH) A wonderful way to interpret mazes! (1/3)

[Dr. Martin Skrodzki @msmathcomp]

This morning, we continue the @BridgesMathart conference with the keynote talk by @NickSayers. He tells us about "#MathArt with Meaning: Explorations in Artistic Mathematics," drawn from personal experience. (https://t.co/DbhPitj8n4) (1/2)

We close the first day of this year's @BridgesMathart conference with the opening reception of the #MathArt exhibition. Find an overview of all accepted artworks here: https://t.co/EWA1Mj2ZEy
So much cool #MathArt!

The second afternoon session at the @BridgesMathart conference is "Hitomizashi Galore": The first talk is by Katherine Seaton on "Interleaved Friezes: Celtic Knotwork and Hitomezashi." (https://t.co/LXZhaEBub4) She talks us through which Friezes can be done via Hitomezashi. (1/2)

[Dr. Martin Skrodzki @msmathcomp]

The first afternoon session at the @BridgesMathart conference has David Swart speak about "Spaces Filling Curves" (https://t.co/PFkjk4bnzd). He employs an optimization algorithm to weave a strip of paper around a sphere, resulting in fascinating #MathArt patterns. (1/3)

[Dr. Martin Skrodzki @msmathcomp]

This year's @BridgesMathart conference's second keynote is given by @Ayliean - "It's about time" (which was both about time topic-wise, but also about time for her to give a talk at this conference). She gives a fascinating account of time across her various #MathArt projects.
