Talk about a Transformation Tuesday! This Breathitt County bridge carrying KY 378 over Frozen Creek looks great after receiving a complete replacement. The old bridge had cracking, exposed rebar and rust.

Say goodbye to rust and cracked concrete because this Leslie County bridge is getting a complete replacement! Once finished, this bridge carrying Violet Lane over Stinnett Creek will have no load restrictions and a lifespan of at least 75 years.

Although some bridges need a complete replacement, not all of them do. This Allen County bridge was repaired in 2020, making it safer and prolonging its service life for the surrounding community.

It’s another before and after! This Wayne County low-water crossing had loose boards and water damage. Its replacement features a concrete deck and sits much higher, decreasing the risk of flooding.

Here’s a throwback to a Metcalfe County bridge carrying Knob Lick Road (KY 1243) over Knob Lick Springs. The superstructure was constructed from two precast slabs, allowing for a short bridge closure of seven days.

Construction Alert 🚧

Work is underway on this Leslie County bridge over Middle Fork Kentucky River. The new bridge will be built downstream of the existing bridge.

Traffic will use the current bridge during construction, which should last 60 days.

Bridge Closure 🚧

The KY 550 Joseph Gearheart Bridge in Floyd County has been closed after damage from a crash. The bridge was scheduled for replacement this summer, but work has been accelerated to start this week.

Here’s a look back at one of our Henry County projects completed in 2020!

This bridge carrying KY 3175 over White Sulphur Fork needed replacing to continue serving the more than 200 vehicles that use it daily.

The finished product is a safer bridge with no load limits.

Spalling, exposed steel and cracking meant this Fleming County bridge needed an upgrade. The project involved a new superstructure with beams, deck, and railing and repairs to the abutment.

Upgrades to this bridge included a new superstructure, deck and rails.

Although many bridges are rebuilt in the same spot, some are not. This Perry County bridge was built just downstream of the original bridge, which remained open to traffic until the new bridge’s completion.

Crews have been working hard on this Marshall County bridge carrying KY 1824/Old Murray Road over Peggy Ann Creek. The work includes a new superstructure with beams, a deck and railing and repairs to the bridge’s abutments. We can't wait to see the finished bridge!

What’s better than one new bridge? Three new bridges! Crews have been hard at work in Leslie, Harlan and Whitley counties repairing bridges that had spalling and rust.

This 92-year-old bridge carrying Stonebridge Road over Muddy Fork is about to get an upgrade! Although the work involves a complete replacement of the bridge, the new structure will maintain many of the historic aesthetic features.

Home sweet home! Haydon Bridge Company built this Magoffin County bridge off-site to reduce traffic impacts. It was the first Bridging Kentucky project to use accelerated bridge construction.
