In a world that constantly pressures us to sort everything and everyone into neat categories of "good" or "bad," today’s Gospel from Matthew offers a grounding reality check.

Jesus tells the story of weeds and wheat growing together in the same field, advising against pulling up the weeds too early because doing so might ruin the good crop.

It is a striking metaphor for the complexities of modern life.

We see this play out daily on social media and in our communities, where there is an overwhelming rush to cancel, judge, or completely write people off the moment a flaw appears.

We want instant justice and perfectly clean fields.

Yet, this passage reminds us that life is messy, and human hearts are rarely one-dimensional.

It calls for a shift from reactionary judgment to radical patience.

Instead of spending our limited energy trying to police or root out every negative thing around us, our energy is better spent simply focusing on being the wheat—growing deep roots, offering nourishment, and contributing something positive to the world.

True growth takes time, and the final judgment isn't our job anyway.

Today is just about blooming exactly where we are planted, right alongside the noise. 🕊️

As the primaries are set to wrap up in August,
the Socialist/ Communist Party is starting to show their true colors with their distain for the, “Old Democratic Party” and how they will discard them if they do not align with them.

The Newsmax piece from yesterday covers the backlash against Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. He was caught on a leaked Zoom call telling donors he’d have no problem primarying John Fetterman if he wins, adding he’d “put one ogre on a pike” to send a message to the party. Fetterman fired back that he’d rather be “Senator Shrek” than whatever that meant, while other Democrats called the rhetoric violent and out of line. El-Sayed’s team says it was just a metaphor for challenging someone who’s “sold out” progressive values.

It’s a clear window into the progressive wing’s frustration with Democrats who drift from the left. El-Sayed has attended multiple DSA events and pushes Medicare for All and anti-Israel positions, yet he rejects the socialist label outright. Fetterman got elected as a progressive but now backs Israel strongly and breaks with the party on other issues, so El-Sayed sees him as a traitor worth challenging. The “ogre on a pike” line was his blunt way of saying one high-profile primary defeat could scare the rest into line.

Crazy thing happened this weekend!

Hubby and I rode with his Veteran’s MC (Warrior Breed) to a small town in Indiana for a few days.

We had to take a small, winding road that was recently asphalted and still had loose gravel on top. As we were leaving, he hugged the side too closely and we started slipping- mind you, there was a 20 foot drop off with no rail. The guys behind up said the rear tire was hanging over the ledge. I thought for sure we were going down.

Thankfully, my hubby is a skilled rider and was able to regain control after just a few seconds (that felt like forever). The good news is that this is the very first time anything like this has happened while I was riding with him. I’ve always worried I’d stupidly try to stop a fall by putting a foot or an arm out, but I 100% monkeyed him from behind, so that’s good to know.

The bad news is that I’m now a scared rider even though I know I shouldn’t be. For the 3 1/2 hour ride home, I was terrified of every bump and kept my arms and legs wrapped around him like a freaking amoeba. I hope I can figure out how to get over it and have fun again because that sucked for both of us.

America is a beautiful country and I love seeing it from the back of his bike. Any one else get the jitters after a near miss? Any advice on how I get myself to suck it the eff up and let it go?
