@RalphCHancock 🎯...even setting aside Strong's selection bias, retrospective studies that rely on narrative responses are complete bunk (see https://t.co/OuRIxGfyKn)
@azcentral It's disturbing that voters are still supporting Lamb. But what does the LDS church have to do with this story? It feels like click bate. This isn't the 1500s, churches can't arrest/punish people. Do we really want to bring back the inquisition?
@ChrisKarpman So considering that gambling isn't yet recognized as a covered addiction, and the fact that gambling on sports is a big integrity issue for NCAA--I'd be shocked if the guy sued, and even more shocked if he won.
@ChrisKarpman For example, an employer running a rehab facility can state that the employer's integrity is at stake in choosing to fire an employee addicted to alcohol. Though alcohol is a covered addiction, it directly impacts the employer's integrity.
@CerebralCereal0@gwowls But right after that verse it says "And these hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger." Which seems to suggest that the first reading is correct.
@azcentral Why so much focus on the LDS church? Its not like they can arrest people. All they can do is withdraw membership, and they keep that confidential.
But yeah, I certainly hope Lamb loses the primary.
@jkimballcook Really loved to see the efforts Hanks made in the 70s and 80s come to fruition decades later after the people who he influenced came to lead the church.
@jkimballcook It seems to me that some of the more senior leaders, especially Pres. Kimball, recognized the need for E. Hanks' ethos to influence the church. And he accomplished it by putting him in direct contact with future church leaders and training new GAs.
@jkimballcook I also recently finished this book and loved it. Very insightful of how a few visionaries (Pres. Kimball, McKay) placed Hanks in a position to directly influence the rising leaders of the church-Cook, Holland, Uchtdorf, Monson, etc. His influence was delayed, but powrfl
@Bickley_Marotta Not necessarily a nickname, but "bear down" as chanted by U of A. That phrase is what you say to someone trying to poop. I'm sorry, it's just not a good phrase.
@ThoughtfulSaint@stackerco I think for years immigration fueled growth in North America. Trump's term has seen the largest net decline in immigration in modern times.
Then there are the birth rates. Even though LDS church is higher than national average, it is still way down, like most other groups.
@LandsEnd Love the shirt. If I order it, will it ship? I ordered something on April 1 and you still haven't shipped it. Something about updating a distrubition system. Has that been fixed?
@GrandpaJoeSux There's actually a very interesting book called "Are Christians Mormon" by David Paulsen.
Basic premise: most modern Christian churches have shifted dramitically since 1830s. And most of the shift has been towards Mormon beliefs bringing them more in line with Mormonism.
