IRELAND: ‘Muslims not welcome’ sign put up at children’s playpark

A “racist” display claiming ‘Muslims are not welcome’ has been put up at a children’s playpark in Co Tyrone.

Police said they are treating the offensive display in the loyalist village of Moygashel, near Dungannon, as a “hate incident”.

The large sign has been fixed to the fence of a play area owned by Mid Ulster District Council.

It includes an image of a group of white people and children playing in a bright and colourful playpark.

A Union flag can be seen along with what appears to be a British army veteran, with medals on his chest, standing beside a sign that reads “welcome to Moygashel Playpark”.

The image also includes several men, believed to represent Muslims, wearing headscarves and beards in a darkly coloured setting.

In front of them is a barrier and a stop sign while a small white man can be seen holding up his hand in a ‘halt’ motion.

He is wearing a hi-Vis vest with the words ‘our community, our rules”.

The image also includes the words “not welcome, not wanted, not here”.

An accompanying message posted on a Moygashel Bonfire Association social media page reads: “Call us racist, call us ‘far right’. Your labels carry no weight here.

“Protecting our women and children is a fundamental duty that overrides any political label, insult or smear designed to silence honest concern.

“We will never apologise for putting our women and children’s lives and well-being ahead of your political correctness.

“Our stance is non-negotiable.” Located near Dungannon, the village of Moygashel. Ireland. [edited]

The guest said he was met with a negative attitude at the front desk as an employee, did not wish to serve him or look his way.

When he entered his room and turned on the TV he was met with a message from the hotel saying "Free Palestine".

His friend, who booked into a different room in the hotel, received the same message.

This behavior bears all the hallmarks of targeted antisemitism and requires a thorough investigation. @TravelodgeUK has yet to comment.

Question: If the suspect in the murder of this young man Qayyum Balogun (21) in Dublin city centre is after fleeing to the UK (and did so after he had bee bailed over a separate serious knife attack) then why have police not released a photo of him so he can be apprehended faster?

Officers believe he fled Ireland within hours of the murder after being identified online.

On Tuesday, gardaí carried out a search of an Airbnb property in Dublin 4 where it believed persons involved in the violence had returned afterwards.

Several serving and former Hampshire Police Officers have told me that ‘we had it drummed into us about our white privilege and unconscious bias’.

Training was outsourced to a third party company and the trainer ‘was deeply hateful of white people and our culture.’

Officers have reported to me about being furious but unable to complain out of fear for their jobs.

This is exactly why I blocked the Race Action Plan as Home Secretary.

It is disgraceful that this stuff went on in policing. And the PCC and CC need to be held to account.
