Central made the return trip to the mountains in 22. Central & Belfry have played 9 times since 2007, six times for State Championships.

The bond between the schools will go on forever but it will certainly not be the same without these titans of coaching on the sidelines.

The bond Coach Scroggins and Coach Haywood had was special. When Ty stepped down he told me he had never had a Friday night off and he wanted to go watch a game at Belfry. So when Central moved to 4A I called Coach Haywood and said let’s keep playing, but schedules didn’t align.

Central v Belfry was special so we tried again for the next cycle. We were supposed to travel to Belfry in 21, but after Coach Scroggins passed Coach Haywood agreed to flip the years so that when Central played Belfry it would be the first game at Ty Scroggins Stadium.
