It’s wonderful to see posts like these, we (& WLSL) still get messages from people grateful to be able to use Stoke Lodge.
Cotham school continues to challenge us - they desperately want that fence & development, but with supporters like you they will NOT wear us down. Ever.
@WlStoke_Lodge Beautiful.
People have walked through there for so many decades but weirdly Cotham still try to pretend it doesn’t really exist. 😂 Even the TVG inspector in 2016 suggested it should have had a sign but it’s like they didn’t read that bit.
Now for the PROWs! 🚶🚶🏽♂️ 🐕
@WlStoke_Lodge It’s such a complex area.
Great quote… we’ve seen Cotham bring out videos or photos of people walking dogs at Stoke Lodge but that’s really not the flex they hoped for. Very funny. We should thank them for helping.
The agenda for next week’s Public Rights of Way & Greens Committee confirms 4 footpaths at Stoke Lodge (recommended due to overwhelming evidence) are being sent to Planning Inspectorate.
Cotham School is spending yet more £££ objecting to people walking on Council land. 🚶🌳 🚶🏽♂️
At the Local Plan hearings Cotham School’s head claimed that they were not consulted about Stoke Lodge being Local Green Space & said locals “somehow knew” about the 2019 consultation but she didn’t. Which makes this 👇🏻 tricky to explain.

@WlStoke_Lodge@Sti11W@MrDanack@RosaRiccini And neither the paid property consultant professional nor Sandra Fryer the planning expert governor understood that? Interesting.
It sounds as though the Inspector didn’t think much of Cotham School’s objections either.
Cotham claimed @BristolCouncil had failed to demonstrate the land was special to the community but oh yes, there’ve been years of TVG applications & it’s currently registered as one? 🤦🏻
Cotham School brought in local ‘action-oriented property consultants’ Rapleys to write an objection on their behalf to LGS status for Stoke Lodge.
More education ££ blown - was it worth it?
The 11 page objection gets a number of things wrong - let’s take a look. 1/7
@WlStoke_Lodge Interesting, it looks like the the land was held for education AND on statutory trusts for public recreation. Almost like the two are compatible! 😁
Past owners of Stoke Lodge house designed their estate as an arboretum of spectacular parkland trees, many of which delight us 150+ years later.
This week @BristolCouncil added 3 trees for future generations to enjoy - Scots Pine, Chinese red birch and Shagbark Hickory! 🌳 👏
Delighted to see many brilliant friends on this list of women standing strong in Bristol. 👏 👏
Shout out too for the women who continue to stand firm for Stoke Lodge - they may be vexing to Cotham School & the last administration, but never vexatious!

@Na73Dog @colin_boyle_@RedrowRipOff@bristolgreen@dannybster This is a complete lie. We have all discussed the family dispute openly since the beginning. It’s always been a major part of the fight to save the farm. Stop spreading misinformation. Here’s ample proof to discredit your false claim from just a 2 min search of my tweets.
@DanicaPriest@ChopsyBristol@RedrowRipOff@bristolgreen@dannybster Similarly ignore the usual suspect over here ⬇️ insinuating that something was “kept under wraps” when it was literally covered in the local press. https://t.co/gHFehkON2g
Ironic tho bc he believes everyone knows anything ever said about Stoke Lodge even if not in the press.
@iamtimjbaker@WlStoke_Lodge@WMNNews Exactly - & on the Downs for example. School duty is to take the same care as a prudent parent would. And every day prudent parents do allow their kids to enjoy sport in these open spaces. Nothing better!
@WlStoke_Lodge@WMNNews They could have saved a lot of money and hassle by being prepared to talk a few years ago! Not sure that open minds or free thinking have been allowed in the past. But once all the litigation is finally over hopefully rational voices will prevail.
