Tafira's Year 1 class has been learning about Warm and Cool colours in art. Over the last few weeks we have worked very carefully step by step to make these amazing cityscapes.
Last friday, we celebrated Canary Day in BSGC and many of our students came to school with the traditional Canarian attire. In Reception Tafira also tried different canarian food this morning and they liked everything! Thank you Ms Kay for taking the time to cook!
Year 8s competed in this year's junior UKMT challenge in Mathematics. We had an incredible level of results, with two students achieving bronze level, three achieving silver and one year 8 who achieved the gold level certificate! Well done to all who participated
As part of our science work on plants, Year 1 Tafira visited Jardin Canario. We saw lots of beautiful flowers and trees and some some animals in the pond too. We also watched a puppet show and leaned some songs to help us learn the names of some plants.
Congratulations to Mr Godfrey and Mr Boyle from the BSGC PE department who progressed from finishing the 70.3 Ironman last year to complete the FULL Ironman In Lanzarote on the 20th May 2023. The challenge consisted of a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike and 42.2 km running! Well done!
Our South School's year 2 students have been looking closely at the artist Laura Del Pazo. The children created their own Amazon paintings in the style of Laura Del Pazo's artwork. These paintings are amazing, Year 2 South. Very well done!
Year 3 Tafira followed instructions carefully to plant some seeds! They chose between cosmos flower, radish or lettuce seeds. We can't wait for them to germinate. 🌱🌱🌱
Year 1 and Year 2 had a talk from "Oceans4Life" about recycling, avoiding single use plastics and how to take care of our planet. After that Year 1 learned about re-using objects to give them a second-life.
Today, our year 13 students enjoyed a practical chemistry lesson. This time, they prepared an aspirin by performing the reactions of acid anhydrides. On Monday, they will check the purity of the experiment. That was amazing, Year 13!
Last Thursday was the last day of our Year 13 students’ visits to El Sabinal hospice. It’s a wonderful experience where the students learn and are able to see a reality which sometimes is hidden.
Our Year 1 & 2 Tafira students love to write. Watch them write their names during the Calligraphy club. Calligraphy stimulates neuronal activity, helping us to develop a broader vocabulary and write texts that are more comprehensive.
BSGC primary girls team played against Oakley in the final game of the league. Year 3 and 4 showed how much they have improved this year, the game ended 2 -0 To the British School. Year 5 and 6 had a hard game against a very tough team, in the end, the game finished 2-1 to Oakley
Year 3 Tafira had an adventurous morning out at Climbing World, Las Palmas. They challenged themselves to climb different walls and even learnt how to abseil down. It was lots of fun on the zip wire and soft play too!
During the last week of the 2nd Term, Year 3 & 4 students performed a fantastic play about bees. It’s been amazing to see all the skills they are getting. They’ve been rehearsing for months and being able perform the show in front of their parents made them really happy.
We’re celebrating the end of the second term and here you can find the photos of some activities we’ve done over the past three months. Our students have been working really hard and we’re really proud of all the outstanding achievements. Now, they get to rest during Easter.
Year 7 to 11 students took part in the global Maths All Stars competition run by COBIS and Century maths between 6th and 16th March. Our students answered nearly 30.000 questions correctly during this time, which placed our small secondary school in the top 10 in the world!
As a continuation of their topic about rainforests, our South School's year 4 students have been reading a book called 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell. This story is about some children stranded in the Amazon Rainforest. Super work, Year 4 South!
