We have been re-finishing this display cabinet which is a composite of old and new timber, using natural staining materials and waxes, very satisfying to bring this back to life.

Historic decoration revealed as a ceiling rose is removed. Unfortunately we are not reinstating this scheme but it’s been fascinating to find! The original has been covered with paper so it can be removed at a later date.

We were recently inspired by this David Tremlett work at Tate Britain. The use of pastel pigments has resulted in a luminous sense of colour similar to natural pigment lime plasters. Something to have an experiment with soon! .
