Top 30 Bigboard Release V1.0
Biggest differences from consensus
- Cam Boozer No 1
- Caleb Wilson in tier 2
- Steinbach top 10
- I can't quit Koa
- Meleek Thomas sleeper
- Quaintance hardest to rank
- Small guards downgraded
My Hornets specific board differs slightly
I watched this and couldn’t help thinking: if you record every draft meeting and convo, you can always cut the footage to make it look like you predicted everything and were prepared all along.
Show me the blooper reel of all the incorrect predictions and mistakes
@DuncOnDemand@maven_marlon Watched the whole thing, including the bit where Morgan said he wrote it down… and then they never showed it. Conspiracy theorists go wild! (I do believe he actually wrote it down, just jokes)
I have Okorie in a different tier to Stirtz, his ability to get to the paint and play through most defensive systems at his age is something Stirtz can’t replicate.
But, I LOVE Stirtz game, his playmaking super underrated, just questions around the versatility of his game as it’s been a very unique situation, I think he can play SG too where as Okorie is a one position guy.
I don’t target “Need positionally in the draft, but if the team I’m running has a weakness e.g. physicality. I don’t keep drafting guys with that same weakness, I do believe in roster balance
As we get closer to the NBA Draft, I’ve become more convinced that the Hornets need to target a guard with one of their two picks (assuming they make both)

⬇️⬇️Charlotte Hornets Q&A ⬇️⬇️
I’m flying back to England tomorrow, I challenge you to send me 8+ hours of questions to fill my time.
Draft, Free Agency, Roster decisions etc
This tournament has all the warning signs of a bad World Cup. New manager who hasn’t coached internationally, over reliance on a single striker Kane, questions in defense.
I would have taken Shaw at LB instead of Burn, Trent instead of Spence, Maguire for Quansah, but they’re mostly squad issues rather than first eleven.
I would like Scott at Man Utd next year! Sorry…
@chrisrichards1 Perhaps, depends on the stretch 5. Porzingis would be a good fit with Moussa, Wendell Carter Jr less so.
I think he’s found his lane as a small ball energy 5, but definitely possible
@OCELeoo Doubt a team would be waiting to give up many valuable draft picks for Bridges on draft night. Only if Charlotte took back long term salary which would clog up the books,m
@OCELeoo Packaging the picks <20% chance
Trade one of the picks >50%
I prefer Rui Hachimura as a name, but doesn’t address some of their main issues. Khris Middleton is the name I like as a playing vet leader, Ben Mathurin’s downhill scoring is interesting.
@dcaw90 With this FA class, I would suggest draft. Won’t return immediate value, but I don’t think Charlotte are looking to press the accelerator too fast, so not an issue
@thebandz29 By signing I assume you mean FA… Kristaps Porzingis fully healthy would be very interesting, but the weird illness creates concerns.
Tari Eason for the full MLE, although HOU probably match.
Not really a great FA class that matches Charlotte’s needs
All reports suggest Herb Jones is weirdly unavailable, as it would actually make some sense to move him if you’re NOP.
If they did, have to think they would want a lot more than that package, I think it starts at two 1sts.
I have targeted Herb Jones as a trade target for years, so I like your thinking
Not much competition, Detroit and LA if they lose Reeves, feeling pretty confident he’s back in Charlotte.
Paying backup PGs big money rarely ends well, but with LaMelo’s injury issues and the lack of secondary playmakers it holds more value to Charlotte than most.
I’m thinking $17-20M three year deal, maybe a player option to keep the aav lower
@sockt2003 Surgery or not, I think they would prefer to see what Miller looks like next year unless he’s willing to lock in under $32M per year, which I don’t expect he does
@rChaseJ11 Physicality. Just look at these playoffs, you need to be able to play through contact in ways we haven’t seen this team do. Regular season is very different
No, they can’t. Too many overlaps and holes in their combined skillset unless there are some major development jumps.
Ceiling is tough, depends on the rest of the roster, i would say 4-5th in the East. Hard to get higher without a single top 20 player on the roster and none of these are obviously going to get there.
Picking between two, man that’s tough. I might feel differently tomorrow, but Kon and Miller, mainly due to the reoccurring ankle injuries.
Start on next years’ roster at 14 or 18? Highly unlikely unless Bridges were traded and they drafted a PF, a chance they could beat out Williams/Salaun.
Damn, those were hard!
@deniseatscool Khris Middleton is a name I like as a good vet who can provide leadership and actually play every night, has the link with Kon and Charles Lee too.
@GmeinerKarl This is a really difficult question. He has a game that will need team success for it to be recognized with All-Star appearances in a similar style to Klay Thompson.
I will stay realistic and go for x1 appearance
He would be off the roster by next summer, whether that happens in the summer, the trade deadline or next summer in FA it would depend on the deal.
I continue to believe Miles trade market will be more tepid than most due to both on and off the court factors.
Think they would like to keep Grant but maybe on a lower aav salary
