It’s Thursday In Black. With a splash of colour as I am hopeful that we will see an end to gender based violence in our world.

@CP24Breakfast Cultures do affect expressions. When a flight to or from Jamaica, Barbados, or Trinidad lands - there will be applause and sincere vocal expressions of gratitude. I’m good with that.
On this Thursday in Black - I take time to honour this woman who survived domestic abuse, pushed boundaries, overcame systemic barriers, and left and indelible mark in this world. Rest in Peace, Queen.#Thursdayinblack#WCC#UCCan
Thursday in Black. I am thinking about John Gordon Smith and his family. Last week his 12 year old granddaughter was raped and killed. As they celebrate Elaina, and mourn her death, may we continue to advocate for an end to violence against women.

Thursday in Black. As I walked along the river I thought about the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls whose families are still grieving. #WCC#Thursdaysinblack#UCCan#unitedchurchofcanada
It’s hot today. Too hot to be wearing black? But not too hot for someone to be the victim of gender based violence. Thursdays in Black. Towards an end to rape and gender based violence.

Thursdays in Black: Conversation last week on Thursday.
Friend: You still doing the Thursday in
Black thing?
Me: Is gender based violence still a thing?
Silence.

Thursdays in Black.
I know. My eyes look tired. But I am grateful that I have the opportunity for a good, peaceful night’s rest. Remembering all those women who are not so fortunate. #thursdaysinblack#WCC#UCCan
On this Thursday in Black, I am thinking about women who suffer in silence, and pray they find spots of colour and points of hope in their lives.

Of the > 30 people I have seen die of #COVID in ICU and >100 I have treated with this disease, none had returned to Canada on a private plane...or any plane for that matter.
Most got #COVID at work, from a close contact or due to lack of access to timely vaccination.
