@fionaswhvre ^wish more people understood Maddie was parentified and had to grow up under impossible standards of raising her younger sibling while shielding him from their parents’ indifference. And just because she got a baby box doesn’t mean the Buckleys were great parents to her.
@solemnsun That whole arc is gray for me because everyone involved had a honest/authentic human response to that situation. That’s why labeling the 118 sans Buck as evil irritates me. If you want more material for Buck-whump, the Buckley parents are right there 😭
@solemnsun I exclude the lawsuit tag bc the character bashing in those fics is deeply rooted in microaggressions and overt racism. There’s few that don’t villainize the 118 and Maddie. I get it’s fanfic so write what you want, but I’m tired of fics that demonize them in favor of Buck-whump.
@solemnsun And it’s always stemming from that lawsuit-era and Boston-arc. I didn’t even know people didn’t fuck with the 118 (except Buck) and Maddie until I started reading fics in the fandom. I had to exclude so many tags cause the bashing got to be too much
@drh0rrible It breaks my heart seeing all of those bashing fics because they mostly do it to the people of color on this show (+Maddie because some are very mean toward her for absolutely no reason). And I’ve seen so many Chimney bashing fics I feel like we’re watching two different shows
@amqlias Well they do say babies catch the true vibes of a person maybe they felt Tim’s dark presence looming around somewhere lol…but let’s be real this isn’t the first time a show has to work around a crying child. He could’ve made it work 🫤
@jeggy112 My main takeaway is Tim has trouble finishing sls because there’s no clear direction but he wants all the characters to move forward. The “how” is where there’s trouble. The Abigail answer & the way he love interests a child is very odd. But the buddie answers weren’t too bad.
@mrscaptainhan This answer explained why I don’t think Tim even knows how to write Chimney any more. He could’ve done so much with him becoming a captain and it fell flat 😭 I wanted to pull out my hair every time there were missed opportunities for his story.
@edssluttywaist ^Exactly. Abigail is a young girl who was terrified, after leaving a religious cult. To diminish her character to a girl with “raging hormones” is egregious. That wasn’t the intent of her purpose at all and it’s vile that Tim wanted to imply that about a traumatized young girl.
@captainmadney My exact thoughts. I get he’s the main lead, but this is why Tim is having troubles developing storylines for the other characters. He doesn’t know how to make them have well-written arcs without Buck being involved.
@eddied1az There literally could’ve been a shot of Maddie, Chimney, and Jee encouraging and clapping for him to crawl even if he didn’t 😭 this tradition would’ve been lovely to see and I was wondering why they didn’t include it
