@GarlicCorgi just an absolutely mediocre film, a very "dad falls asleep watching this on a saturday afternoon" type of movie. Not even accurate to the source material in a lot of ways too which is extremely funny with how people are talking about it in comparison to The Odyssey lol
@Cadenza_23@robotclay@ostonox@AOC@JonLemire Sun comes up later during winter so a lot of people had to go to school/work when it was dark in the more northern states. In places like Washington sunrise sometimes ends up being past 8:30am on permanent dst
@edzitron I think the quiz pegs you as way more Luddite than you actually are but most of the tech questions it asks are over things that are obvious grifts
@ettingermentum Okc has a disadvantage in terms of fan sentiment because
a) they have been competitive for most of their existence and had almost no years of total irrelevancy
b) they will always have a built in group of haters because of the move out of seattle
@K58254521@BryanWinsAgain the point was, the landscape changed as polling shifted. People were afraid of a double R ticket because Bianco and Hilton were polling well. The polls before the election had shifted to the point where a Steyer/Becerra ticket was on the table so people talked about it.
@K58254521@BryanWinsAgain People were literally talking about it before the election actually happened because polling showed the race as very close with a legitimate chance for republicans to be completely locked out. Just like how people were freaking out over having two R candidates earlier.
@K58254521@BryanWinsAgain It's not about who becomes gov, it's about down ballot races. No republican in the race would depress republican turnout and increase dem turnout which would help other democrats in smaller races.
@ettingermentum I wonder how much people thinking Kamala might run and then having her ultimately decide not to impacted this whole situation. Feels like the overall pool wasn't super great in general and some of that may be because some people didn't bother thinking Kamala would run
@jamestalafreako@admcrlsn steyer actually polled better with republican voters than becerra did, but there would still be republicans that checked out because they didn't have a guy at the top of the ticket
@BrandonHarami Think this is a very online sentiment of people who have been obsessively arguing about this for weeks. Most irl supporters I know are rooting for the R lockout
@GarlicCorgi Everyone hates Congress because any time they manage to do anything it's bad but 90% of the time absolutely nothing gets done. Most news stories about shit happening in Congress are about whether or not they'll decide if they want to decide to do something, completely toothless
@MaceAhWindu certainly still plenty of votes to be counted, Steyer isn't completely out of it yet, but CA DSA/progressives in general need to really start preparing candidates for 2028 now.
@MaceAhWindu I definitely understand the hesitancy of voting for a billionaire, but I find it difficult to find the guy getting all the corporate donors as a reasonable alternative. Feel like the real issue was failing to build up a candidate with out this sort of baggage early enough.
