one of the most interesting conversation i had at @SolanaConf was with a hardware wallet team

i talked to the co-founder / cto who shared my paradigm that from a security standpoint, hardware wallets should be as "dumb" as possible (zero features) and offline as possible (never connect to the internet)

the problem is hardware wallets have to add features because the user experience is so bad otherwise, which constantly makes the hardware wallet "smarter" and more online - i.e. less secure (a good example of that was the "ledger recover" controversy)

he was amazed when he realized that with ika they can actually keep the hardware wallet basically featureless (only sign messages) and always offline, while still enabling amazing ux because all logic can be enforced on-chain with zero-trust guarantees

post-conference, we are now discussing how they can build a more usable and more secure hardware wallet with ika

another really interesting conversation i had at @SolanaConf was with a company doing stablecoin abstraction. they had a really big prominent booth and their value prop was they can swap any stable on any chain for any other stable on any other chain

because they wanted to implement a non-custodial solution (near intents that @DefiIgnas suggests here is custodial), they implemented a super complex hashed timelock contract on both chains that is expensive, slow and requires a lot of maintenance and work when adding new stables and new chains. in fact as of today they only support ethereum, bsc and solana because of these complexities

we went over how they would do that with @ikadotxyz and dwallets and they realized they could do instant transfers with any stable on any chain with no complex implementations and without even needing a smart contract on that chain - all in a completely non-custodial way
