“The god of this age (Satan) has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
2 Corinthians 4:4
@Pirates Tonight, Ryan has lept past Reynolds (56 RBIs) and is now only 2 RBIs behind Lowe, who has 63 RBI.
Imagine where he would be if he didn't spend time on the IL.
@Mordie_Kai@owenthcarey The changes you mentioned are not the changes I m referring to. And I think deep down inside you know exactly what I’m referring to.
There are entire doctrines that have been changed.
Let’s just agree and disagree.
I pray that truth is revealed to those seeking truth.
@Mordie_Kai@owenthcarey Are you aware that passages in the Book of Mormon has been altered and changed well over 4000 times since Smith released his original translation.
That should be a red flag to anyone searching for truth.
Baptism illustrates a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Romans 6:3-4
However, requiring anything in addition to faith in Jesus Christ for salvation is a works-based salvation.
To add anything to the gospel is to say that Jesus’ death on the cross was not sufficient.
We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
@wcmclaa@owenthcarey Jesus instructs us and many things that we don’t do. It’s called sin.
If baptism was necessary for salvation, than salvation is based on works (what we do).
Salvation is based on what Christ did, not on what we do or don’t do.
Baptism is necessary for obedience to Christ.
@Mordie_Kai@owenthcarey As a side note, and I say this with gentleness and respect, those of the Mormon religion aren’t saved as many of their beliefs on essential Christian doctrine are opposed to Scripture. In fact, the Book of Mormon is totally contradictory to Scripture.
@Mordie_Kai@owenthcarey Jesus promised the thief on the cross eternal life. He wasn’t baptized.
Many times people on their death bed receive Jesus as their Savior (with no opportunity to be baptized).
The question was, “Is baptism necessary for salvation?”
The answer is “no.”
Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter!
Isaiah 5:20
Not if you've placed your faith in Christ.
We're not righteous because of what we do or don't do. Our righteous is based on what Christ did. He died on the cross, defeated and rose from the grave on the 3rd day. And, "whosoever believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life,"
