Last year @ICEgov said a man tried to murder a female ICE officer while she was trying to arrest him. They swore under oath he grabbed her by the neck and choked her. He was even indicted for attempted murder.

Problem is, it never happened! Bystander video unraveled the lie.

Harold Meyerson flags that founding father Benjamin Franklin made a persuasive argument for the wealth tax, in a letter to Robert Morris, then the richest man in America and the financier of the revolution.

His basic argument: Public laws and society made you rich, so the public can decide what to do with the wealth we all collectively built. If you don't like that, he says, then leave society and go live with "the Savages." (Of course, the indigenous people of the time would not have allowed such greed in their societies, either.)

Couple of things: 1) they didn't charge him for federal destruction of property and 2) the local code requires 2 elements they'll struggle to prove a) malicious intent + b) that what was supposedly "destroyed" was worth more than $1,000. Like what's a piece of pool sealant worth?
