It’s official! Today we received word from employment tribunal that Brogan's bosses have to pay all backdated wages & compensation to striking staff. A massive thank you to BFAWU & everyone who supported us, our strike fund & @swindonadver covering our campaign ✊❤️
If you’ve been told to go into work tomorrow, know this: everyone has the right to work in safety. And you have a legal right to refuse to work if risks are serious and imminent. If you’re worried, talk to your union, ask your employer make it safe, or contact the @H_S_E for help
PM’s mess of a statement has caused more confusion than clarity, creating worrying uncertainty about the return to work & how safety will be assured, opening up divisions between the UK’s nations and displaying a complete lack of clarity about what activities are now allowable.
There should be no return to work until it is safe to do so.
If work cannot be done safely, it should not proceed.
People must come before private profit.
Like everyone, we’re worried about the impact of #COVID19 on our jobs and lives.
We’re calling for:
- Full sick pay for self-isolation
- Full pay if pubs have to close
- Protection of hours and job security.
Solidarity to all hospitality workers in the face of this crisis.
It’s been a long & bitter month for staff, we have yet to see any money for our work. If you can help the strike fund-it’s much appreciated! Once again, thank you for your support & for taking an interest in the plight of food workers & employment in 2020 https://t.co/HHwvSlldQx
So we have given the bosses 14 days to pay the money they owe us. If they don’t we have to ask ACAS to get involved. If bosses refuse to speak with ACAS, we will we given certification to take the case to an employment tribunal.
So it’s official, Brogan’s have missed our payday. Workers cannot pay rent or bills. We are getting legal advice on claiming our pay & seeking work elsewhere. But it has left us shocked & devastated.
Thanks for continued support of our strike fund https://t.co/nBmwoPJmch
