@noorxnoman@MSNBC Just wanted to say that this was incredibly powerful writing. I don’t think I’ve ever actually complemented someone as earnestly as I am right now. Your point about acceptance of the totality was beautiful.
@ShatawnLLeb@NGrossman81 @BeijingPalmer But only if one knew very little about the South Carolina dem primary electorate right? There was no data in support of the proposition that older black voters were moving left in any meaningful sense
@blob_watcher@isqueezegatz My understanding is that it’s effectively a non issue for the US but significant for Eurasia, seems pretty obvious the Iranians are just trying to demonstrate the precarious state of the us led order
@OpulenceIHazIt@NGrossman81 @BeijingPalmer that’s about as plausible a summary as what someone might have convinced themselves of, but it’s also fantastical. In hindsight maybe they mistook widespread liberal agreement on culture war issues with a sympathy for systemic economic and legal change that was illusory at best
@NGrossman81 @BeijingPalmer I guess having lived through Trump era by 2020 they’d convinced themselves maybe Bernie in power would green lantern his way to socialism? I guess Bernie could have actually brought about it leftish-isolationism if he had of been the guy. Ukraine goes worse in that timeline.
@NGrossman81 @BeijingPalmer I think you are literally right, but were these people serious? I was there in 2020 and perceived zero risk or possibility that the far left would do anything other than impact racial politics. What did they think was going to happen?
@ryan_san@BFriedmanDC And respectfully Russia is a significant interest, but no one thinks it’s necessary to have a Russian nationalist voice in the US congress, or for that matter a representative who thinks their job is to be the voice for South Korea (the nation, not folks with Korean heritage)
@ryan_san@BFriedmanDC Of course it’s fine, and in fact good, to represent Palestinian-Americans but I was objecting to Brandon’s unusual framing. The way I read his tweet he wasn’t talking about Talib’s constituents in the US, he was talking about the Palestinian nation. That’s a UN thing
@ryan_san@BFriedmanDC While disagreeing with your premise, I’d still say that the notion that the congress is meant to serve as some global forum for the American descendants of other nations to advance those nations interests is absurd, naive and unamerican.
@spencerforhire @simeone_miller @BFriedmanDC I hear you, atrocious and sad that this is where people find themselves, having to reckon with questions like this.
@spencerforhire @simeone_miller @BFriedmanDC I’m not, but am part of a different group that I think has valid concerns about a theoretical second term with fewer guardrails. I don’t have the lived experience but hope I have some measure of empathy. I’ll engage in tactical voting for the lesser evil and think it’s rational
@spencerforhire @simeone_miller @BFriedmanDC I hear you both, but I can imagine second term trump (without meaning to be hysterical) putting American Muslims in camps if there was a terrorist attack and a captive judiciary will let him. Whatever else he’ll do, Biden won’t do that. It’s not a risk I could personally endorse
@studentactivism My god, it’s technically illegal to post signs on lampposts is the most simpering and disingenuous bullshit imaginable. I generally don’t bother to hate tweet, but what a pathetic half man failed academic you are, parroting whataboutist talking points
