I'm involved in five gigs as a band manager, DJ, promoter and curator from Oct 22 with thousands of euro on the line and no alternative if they don't go ahead.

@aaronmcgrattan @UnaMullally But of course they don't. It's Fine Gael. It's not in their ideological makeup to fix it to benefit the populace. They are a centre right, Tory, neoliberal party. Dismantling the state in favour of the free market IS THEIR thing. They can never fix it.

@daithibhard @WhelanKarl This. The Cobblestone makes Dublin a culturally richer place. The hotel bar in the Radisson hotel is just a bar. It might generate more money for the business, but it's not the reason why people come to Dublin. I don't think economists and city councellors grasp that concept.

@AishlingHuggins @WillyWoollyman @paulduanefilm The type of people who are attracted by the job of Co. Councellors in Ireland don't seem to be the most culturally aware. I would say there are few with an interest in arts music or cultural history going into it. They seem to lack an understanding of what makes Dublin great.

@Rubberbandits This seems mad to me, as someone who got sex education in 1992 in Ireland where we got to write down ANY question we wanted. The most memorable one 'what's a Mars bar party?' The woman running the session didn't know, so a hand shot up from the back of the class with the answer!

@samindrakunti @Rob_Carr I think the lack of soul is more apparent at the moment. The jam packed pubs and clubs are always a vibe in Dublin and these days, with half empty pubs because of covid resrictions, everything in the city seems just...slightly dull!
