Something serious needs to be found to address this and give our young people dignity, hope and a future. The old TOPs style course of the 70s/80s were useful for my generation. Many of us got a start that we wouldn’t have otherwise. Surely something similar is possible?
1,012,000 young people aged 16-24 years in the UK were not in education, employment or training (NEET) in Jan-Mar 2026, up from 957,000 in Oct-Dec 2025.
This was driven by greater numbers of young people no longer looking for work.

Hi @AvantiWestCoast. We have just had an email saying our train (as listed below) has been cancelled. Still showing as running from Motherwell at 09.52. Can we still join it there. I’m confused.

Maybe naysayers will think Alex Salmond's death marks an end to the campaign for independence. I'd suggest it's quite the opposite. The responsibility has been handed on to everyone who would now vote Yes. And the baton has been handed over to new generations.
