A new, experimental skin cancer vaccine by the US company Moderna has had positive results in a late-stage trial.
The mRNA vaccine, given to patients already diagnosed with melanoma, was given in conjunction with an immunotherapy drug and was shown to reduce the spread and recurrence of melanoma.
It boosted the share price of Moderna - famous for its COVID vaccine - by as much as 93%.

The number of new melanoma cases, the deadliest form of skin cancer, has risen above 20,000 in a year for the first time in the UK.
Cancer Research UK reveals that 20,980 new cases were identified in 2022 alone, marking an unprecedented peak.
And with temperatures hitting highs of up to 33°C this bank holiday weekend, the charity has urged people to prioritise sun safety.
