A statement from the family of Alex Pretti, obtained by CNN:
"We are heartbroken but also very angry.
Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman.
The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed.
Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you."
One of my former research assistants was killed by ICE in Minneapolis today😢
Alex was the kindest, sweetest human and a ICU nurse with a bright future ahead of him
May his soul rest in peace and this senseless carnage stop💔
Rest in Peace, #RobertRedford. You did so much for Utah, from leading effort to preserve Provo Canyon when road was rebuilt to giving all a beautiful space to play and refresh at @SundanceResort to the @sundancefest and, yes, all those movies. Thank you. ❤️👏🏻
Oh what a disappointment the @HiltonHotels in #LaJolla is. Dark, outdated, scuffed up, dreary. I have stayed in a lot of hotels over the past year. Expected so much more. C’mon Hilton. You are better than this!😕
Voices: Utah must embrace work-based learning pathways
Here’s how @wgu is forging the way for work-based learning at scale. #apprenticeships#nationalapprenticeshipweek https://t.co/pLXXGMkNeM
Will I recognize this country tomorrow? Oh, I sure hope so. Let there be integrity, respect for others, for the will of the people, for the rule of law and for democracy, for joy and optimism and a perspective that sees hope ahead.
A Japanese police chief on Monday apologized in person to a man for his decades-long suffering that started from an overbearing investigation and wrongful conviction that had kept him on death row until last month, when he was acquitted in a retrial. https://t.co/5kJN2Qd2Ts
I have heard so many stories from students about how @wgu works for them. These numbers show the impact the university is having! https://t.co/vdcxMB398w

Love this story about the photographers at the Trump rally and how they stayed calm and focused in the terrible and still unfolding situation. https://t.co/EGT80q6FqU
