@kaylinwedel I think that these ads benefit the producer and the consumer because people are seeing things they are interested in and the producer is getting more sales because of it. While I think it is a little bit invasive, I would rather see advertisements I’m interested in #UWj201 #303
@hailey_dumont I think young children will be less influenced by the media because they grew up with it. They know to not believe everything they see online because they have been taught this from a very young age #UWj201 #303
I find it so interesting how fast new media adoption rates are. I was surprised to learn that radio took 38 years to get to 50 million users and Snapchat only took 4 months! Do you use these new media forms still? I personally do not use Snapchat as often anymore #j201 #303
@jennaetrucke I feel that the main difference between persuasion and manipulation is the intent behind it. Someone who is persuading is trying to ultimately benefit that person, while someone who is manipulating only cares how the outcome will benefit themselves #303 #UWJ201
@kahn_maggie I think this ad could be considered a form of manipulation because it is taking advantage of our emotions. Budweiser knows that people have a soft spot for animals and exploited this #UWJ201 #303
I particularly enjoyed reading the article about the top 15 ads of the 21st. My personal favorite out of this list was metro trains dumb ways to die campaign. I remember loving the mobile game and even knowing the words to the song! #UWJ201 #303
@smcrane8 To get the full story, I think it is important to get your information from multiple sources and get your information from credible sources as well. It is also important to be open to the idea that not everyone thinks what you may think #UWJ201 #303
@ellese_martin For me personally, I think a lot of the media I consume is more biased rather than slanted simply because I get most of my news from social media. I also actively seek out news that supports my own opinions.
In this weeks lectures, I found it interesting that most journalist are more liberal leaning. This makes me question whether the “balanced” stories journalists try to write are somewhat favoring Democrats because the authors are moderately democratic themselves. #UWJ201 #303
I find it interesting that, even though we think we have a wide range of media sources, a lot of sources are owned by the same company. This can be deceiving because a select few companies are controlling a wide range of the news we get. #uwj201 #303
@kouri_sophia#UWJ201 #303 Hi Sophia! I completely agree with you. I am more inclined to read news articles that are more entertaining, even though they may not always be as factual as the more moderate news articles
@journalkimmy #UWj201 #303 Great point! I was not surprised by this, however, because I think most Americans are more in the middle when it comes to politics rather than being far left or far right
I found The Atlantic article interesting. Specifically, I agree that since schools are dominated my liberals, Democrats view Republicans as caricatures more often. My high school was very liberal and has definitely shaped my perception of Republicans #UWj201 #303
Social media has more of a negative impact on people than a positive. It makes people feel insecure about themselves and sets false expectations for what people should look like or wear. I feel that Instagram specifically makes people compare themselves to others. #UWj201 #303
