An appropriate birthday present on my uncle's birthday today. A federal judge ruled that President Trump and the Kennedy Center Board acted unlawfully in renaming the Kennedy Center. The judge held that only Congress can change the Center's name and blocked the planned two-year closure. I know they'll probably appeal and the story isn't over, but for today let’s celebrate a great birthday gift.
Brookline's Memorial Day observances began at the Walnut Hills Cemetery, then proceeded to the Walnut Street cemetery with its Revolutionary War graves. Ceremonies culminate at 11 AM at Town Hall, followed by a collation at the veterans post.
37,369 American flags cover Boston Common this Memorial Day weekend.
Each flag honors a Massachusetts service member who made the ultimate sacrifice from the Revolutionary War through today.

Barney Frank was one of a kind. For more than three decades in Congress, he fought tirelessly for the people of Massachusetts, helped make housing more affordable, stood up for the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans, and helped pass one of the most sweeping financial reforms in history designed to protect consumers and prevent another financial crisis. Barney’s passion and wit were second to none, and our thoughts are with his family today.
I'm in South Carolina supporting state lawmakers who are fighting to protect Black representation in Congress. Republicans are trying to draw these districts out of existence to protect their own power. It's outrageous and it's wrong.
