Just in case you’re not on the Tok. A new trend that is maybe not new- is reiterating the claim that the media is excited people are fighting. That we like unrest. This is categorically untrue and not funny in the slightest.
@brandonetc Not only does it keep people out who can’t afford it, but it keeps people out who value the stories and life experience found in the rural parts of the country. Not all that is worthy resides in urban areas!

If we as white journalists aren’t (at least) constantly being critically thoughtful of our intentions and role as documentarians in BIPOC spaces we don’t otherwise occupy, I think we’re doing a disservice to the communities we cover.
