@ZachLog34371267@davidpollack47 Moot point now, but no. They only had one loss (vs 3) and played a competitive game with a chance to win. The B10 champ game did end up being pretty meaningless, because swapping the one seed for the two doesn’t change much in terms of their path. Would’ve dropped them behind UGA
@ZachLog34371267@davidpollack47 The champ games were already meaningless if the loser goes anyway. Get rid of championship games, 9 game conference schedule, no FCS opponents (looking at you SEC), play 1 random team from the other 3 power conferences or Notre dame. No more eastern Illinois for the mighty bama
“On behalf of the entire Notre Dame community, I want to express how incredibly proud we are of our football student-athletes for their accomplishments both on and off the field this season.
We are deeply grateful for the exceptional leadership of Vice President and Director of Athletics Pete Bevacqua, Head Coach Marcus Freeman, and the entire coaching staff.
Our pride stems not only from this team’s success on the field but from the values they embody: faith, perseverance, selflessness, and a steadfast commitment to the University."
—University President Rev. Robert A. Dowd, C.S.C.
A newsy wrinkle from Bevacqua: As part of an MOU signed last spring, Notre Dame is assured of a CFP berth if it is ranked in the top 12 starting next year.
If this year’s situation unfolds next year, the final at-large team (Miami) would have gotten bumped for No. 11 Notre Dame.
