My dad participated in the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961 in an attempt to rid Cuba of Communism and the dictatorship of Fidel Castro. Afterwards he devoted a good portion of his life to bring freedom to Cuba.
Regretfully he and many others, who saw the harm that was being done to their homeland, were unsuccessful in their efforts to bring freedom, democracy and capitalism to Cuba.
Here we are 60+ years later and the island is utter collapse - no electricity for two days now and basic needs are going from horrendous to even worse.
The contrast of Capitalism and Democracy vs that of Communism and Dictatorships cannot be fuller display.
Praying for a Free and Capitalist Cuba once and for all!!!
Today is the 65th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs invasion. My dad was a 20 year old paratrooper who was eventually captured and served as a political prisoner, along with around 1500 of his fellow soldiers, for almost two years. They lost that battle but history has unequivocally shown that they were on the right side of history.
In honor of those brave volunteer freedom fighters, it would be a true blessing that after 65 long years, that now is the time that their dreams become a reality and we finally have Free Prosperous Cuba.

Irony of ironies: My father fought in the Bay of Pigs and “lost.” His children and grandchildren though are now thriving Americans.
The grandchildren of those who “won” for Castro? Still living under tyranny, poverty, and fear.
Tell me again who lost.
The time is NOW for Cuba’s next generation to rise. Democracy is coming — the only question is whether they’ll fight for it or wait for it.

@JasonPoblete What was telling though is the fear on his face and the tone of his voice. Also those in the room looked like they were shitting themselves. The end of this brutal dictatorship is coming soon!!!!
As a son of a Bay of Pigs veteran, I am praying that we will soon see a Free Cuba. It will be huge testament to President Trump and Marco Rubio if this happens under their watch. Other Administrations have declared that they want a “Free Cuba” but this time it appears for real!
@Ilhan Are you for a free Cuba? Have you spoken up against the oppression of the Cuban people by its own government? Curious as to whether you ever spoke up against the atrocities committed by Fidel Castro, Raul Castro, and now Miguel Díaz-Canel?
Only one side had to build a wall to keep people from escaping.
Many people risk their life on a tiny boat to get from Cuba to America, but none go the other way.
