The day Nigerians finally wake up and hold their leaders accountable, I just hope it won’t be too late.
Because before we know it, censorship could become the new normal where you only get to read what they want you to read, watch what they want you to watch, and post what they approve of. And the scary part is that there are countries already doing this. The difference is that many of those countries are actually working for their people, providing security, opportunities, and a decent quality of life.
Now imagine that happening here, where people are already struggling with insecurity, kidnappings, killings, rape, hardship, and a lack of accountability from those in power. Imagine being cut off from the rest of the world and only being allowed to see the version of reality they choose to show you, while the real problems continue around you.
That’s why I hope Nigerians don’t wait until their voices are restricted before demanding better leadership and accountability. Because if we get to that point with all these issues still unresolved, we’ll be in a very difficult situation. I just hope it won’t be too late by then.
