Many people criticize Pope Leo XIV on immigration without actually understanding his position.

His starting point is quite simple. Human dignity comes first. Human dignity has no passport.

At the same time, he has never taught that immigration should be uncontrolled. Nations have the right -and even the duty- to secure their borders and regulate who enters their territory.

What the Pope consistently criticizes are policies he considers inhumane.
For instance, mass deportations without regard for individual circumstances, unnecessary family separations, or enforcement that ignores the dignity and legitimate contributions of long-term residents.

I think the Pope's approach is straightforward;

- Protect human dignity,
- Allow governments to manage their borders responsibly,
- Promote the integration of lawful migrants,
- Support development in migrants' countries of origin to reduce forced migration,
- Encourage international cooperation in addressing migration.

That is the Pope's position and it should be represented accurately
whether you agree with him or not, .
