Poco Middle Schoolers went to the Bethany Arts Community to explore the Black History and Culture exhibit. They experienced a walk through time culminating in a gallery walk of lives of important black figures from this area of Westchester, including Greenburgh’s Cab Calloway!
We love our seniors here at Poco and we welcomed them to our school for a "Golden Guest" concert and brunch in their honor. Thank you to the PTA and Mrs. DePaola for collaborating to make it happen!
Our 6th grade chorus traveled to Rockefeller Center and performed on stage at Radio City Music Hall, where they sang their hearts out! The highlight was their rendition of a Nigerian Christmas carol, sung in Yoruba! Yet another priceless Pocantico experience. Just Wow.
What a wonderful celebration of Diwali in our cafeteria on Tuesday! The food disappeared faster than ever and the hand stenciling was a huge hit too - thank you parents!
Restaurant Wars are on in FACS class! As an honorary judge, I can assure you these 8th graders were flexing some serious culinary/presentation skills. My problem was I couldn’t stop eating! This round was:
“O’Shamrock” vs. “al sur del ecuador”
Kids across the grade levels planted bulbs around the school over the last two days - I can’t wait for our spring surprises! Here are some of our 2nd graders in the car circle.
As part of Regeneron’s “Day For Doing Good” initiative, our local scientists volunteered to build a small and beautiful greenhouse at Poco for our garden program! They also prepped tulip beds! Thank you to our own Mrs. Morilla for spearheading, and to Regeneron and VolunteerNY!!
6th grade enjoyed a fabulous trip to our friends at the Katonah Museum of Art for their program: Stories of Syria’s Textiles - Art and Heritage Across Two Millennia. Such a special experience!
Literacy Night was a blast! Thank you to families and teachers for coming together and celebrating all the language learning happening in our classrooms - every grade level participated JPK-8, including specialists and our middle school English and social studies teachers!
Duke, our famously charming and infinitely patient therapy dog (courtesy of Mr. Suarez) is the most popular member of the school. I can’t imagine why! ;)
Our walk around Swan Lake was made even more incredible by a special program with a local falconer, who presented to every single grade as a station along their walk!
So excited to welcome Latin Grammy Nominee, Flor Bromley, back to Pocantico for multicultural performances with her band in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month!
