People often ask where we find the Lego from the 1997 spill. We frequently find it among the nurdles and tiny plastic fragments littering the strandline, particularly after winter storms and high spring tides. We found this Lego speargun earlier today while picking up plastic after #StormCiaran.

It’s World Octopus Day. There were 4,200 black Lego octopuses inside the shipping container that fell off the Tokio Express in 1997. We found our first Lego octopus from the spill shortly afterwards but didn’t find another for 18 years. #WorldOctopusDay

Even manmade objects can become miniature coral reefs. This Lego door frame has been lying at the bottom of the sea for 26 years and has a tiny Devonshire cup coral growing inside one of its studs. It's one of over 18,000 lost from the cargo ship Tokio Express in 1997.
