Over the past year we have managed to raise £101.25 for Project Magale. This money will go a long way to helping Ruth in Uganda who we sponsor to ensure that she gets the education she deserves in her hopes of becoming a Doctor. Huge thanks to everyone at @broxburnacademy ✨
For the past two weeks S2 have been looking at the nuclear weapon debate, and this week they pulled together their knowledge to participate in silent debates. They responded and questioned the views of others, and really came to an informed view on the issue ✨ 👏🏻

This week S1 were looking at LGBT+ Inequality as part of their 'Inequality' unit and LGBT History Month. They had several tasks to showcase their learning and have produced fantastic work! 🏳️🌈#LGBTHM21
Last week S1 pupils were asked to create a storyboard that mapped out the life of a person who experiences inequality. Pupils drew on the different causes of inequality they learned about to create diverse stories that illustrate the complex nature of inequality!🏫
At the end of our live lesson, I asked S1 what they would do to tackle inequality, and it was great to see their responses on making people feel safe, included and increasing rights for LGBTQ+ people. Extremely fitting during LGBT History month #LGBTHM21
Last week in Modern Studies, S3 pupils were tasked with creating an infographic to highlight one of the causes of the refugee crisis. Some excellent examples below, focusing on war, political instability, and sexual orientation! #edutwitter
Last week S2 were looking at drug cartels in Mexico and their leaders. These are some of the fantastic 'Wanted Posters' they created based on what they learned 👮
There is a movie about the work of Ashton and LGSM aptly titled 'Pride'. A must watch for those interested in the struggle for LGBT equality during a period where attitudes were vastly different from those that prevail today #LGBTHM21
Day 2: Today we focus on Mark Ashton. He co-founded the group LGSM who supported & campaigned for Miners during the strikes in the 80s. The work of Ashton & the group led to the Labour Party supporting LGBT rights. #LGBTHM21
