AI models can develop 'brain rot' if continually fed high-engagement content
A study showed a form of cognitive decline in the AI, with Meta's Llama model being the most impacted
Do NOT install any agentic browsers like OpenAI Atlas that just launched.
Prompt injection attacks (malicious hidden prompts on websites) can easily hijack your computer, all your files and even log into your brokerage or banking using your credentials.
Don’t be a guinea pig.
This might be the most disturbing AI paper of 2025 ☠️
Scientists just proved that large language models can literally rot their own brains the same way humans get brain rot from scrolling junk content online.
They fed models months of viral Twitter data short, high-engagement posts and watched their cognition collapse:
- Reasoning fell by 23%
- Long-context memory dropped 30%
- Personality tests showed spikes in narcissism & psychopathy
And get this even after retraining on clean, high-quality data, the damage didn’t fully heal.
The representational “rot” persisted.
It’s not just bad data → bad output.
It’s bad data → permanent cognitive drift.
The AI equivalent of doomscrolling is real. And it’s already happening.

🚨 The Discord breach is worse than expected!
- 1.5 TB of data
- Over 2 million government ID photos
- Threat actor publishes some user data due to Discord's inaction
Sample of a user showing her face, ID, and a written note:
A fire in a South Korean government building destroyed saved files from 125,000 civil servants.
There are no back ups and files permanently lost.
In 2017, the government created its own cloud system (“G-Drive” aka “Governmet Drive”) and allotted 30 gigabytes to each civil employee.
The custom cloud was meant to ensure data sovereignty and maximize security.
“G-Drive” ballooned to 858 terabytes and the government IT opted to not back it up.
About 17% of the country’s 750,000 civil servants currently use “G-Drive” and some departments were hit harder by the fire, which engulfed the 5th floor of the National Information Resources Service building in late September.
One of the most-affected departments was Ministry of Personnel Management (one employee noted “It’s daunting as eight years’ worth of work materials have completely disappeared.”)
Pretty wild.
