With it being so mild our giant tree Dahlia, Dahlia imperialis is flowering right now. Usually we grow them for the huge size of the stems and leaves, they are 4 metres high this year! The flowers are a late season bonus.

Here’s a rare one, Kniphofia bruceae flowering in our garden at the moment, best flowering for several years due to the mild weather this year. Threatened in the wild this is a joy to see on a December day.

Just spotted Hedychium ‘Telstar’ seed pods at the nursery. Telstar is a pretty tough ginger and the flower is beautiful but never noticed how amazing the fresh seeds are.
