Our state is back on track academically. Yet, some want to reverse the progress we’ve made by directly stripping rural schools of the funds they need to stay open. I will not let that happen. #ksleg, let's continue to reject vouchers and protect our public schools. #SOTS
For years I taught the story of Emmitt Till in my classroom and couldn't quite find the words to express how the firestorm around Jason Aldean's song reminded me of that story. Thankfully, this small town editor nailed it.

I had a student who accidentally spilled food from his thermos all over the floor in my classroom. I immediately went to grab paper towels and cleaning supplies. The student said, “Oh but Ms. K you should call the custodian. That’s not our job.” I stopped for a moment and smiled. I said to him, “When you are part of a school community it’s everyone’s job to help out when needed. We can all lend a helping hand and we should.” He got up and grabbed some paper towels and began to help me with the clean up. It was absolutely awesome! #StarfishClub #X
Remember the failed tax experiment in Kansas? Arizona is now having its failed education experiment. Vouchers are doing to Arizona exactly what public school supporters said they would: ripping off taxpayers & hurting students. Please don't let this happen in Kansas #ksleg#ksed
If I didn’t know better, I would think that they are intentionally trying to destroy public schools claiming to help kids, but in actuality are designed to help the parents who already have all of the options available to them at the expense of the rest.
Appreciate KSHSAA taking time to explain how HSub113 impacts athletics.
Disappointed this piece of legislation seems to find even more ways to disincentivize public school attendance.
“Attend private/home schools but utilize the extracurriculars public schools offer.”

Public schools accept all children.
No questions asked.
Private schools select their children.
That’s why they are private.
Public tax dollars should support ONLY public schools.
Private money should pay for private schools.
Any questions?

Help for most Kansans, like tax cuts and fully funding special education, died because legislative leaders held them hostage to tax breaks for the rich & destroying public schools https://t.co/FVjMEIEE0f #ksleg#ksed
