Creativity, Arts & Community
Victoria wouldn’t be Victoria without its artists, musicians, creators and community builders.
Our arts and cultural communities bring our neighbourhoods to life, create jobs, attract visitors and help make Victoria a special place to call home.
But too many creative people struggle to afford the spaces they need to live, work, rehearse, perform and bring new ideas to life.
I want to be a champion for our creative community at City Hall, removing unnecessary barriers, supporting affordable creative spaces and making it easier for great ideas to flourish.
A vibrant Victoria is a creative Victoria.

Fair Governance & Public Accountability
Your tax dollars deserve more than promises. They deserve results.
Every dollar City Hall spends should deliver meaningful value to the people of Victoria.
I believe residents deserve to know what was promised, what was spent, what was accomplished and whether the results justified the cost.
From major infrastructure projects like Crystal Pool to everyday City services, we need transparency, accountability and responsible financial management.
I want to protect essential services, reduce unnecessary costs and make City Hall work better for the people who pay for it.

Local Economy & Community Wealth
Being pro-business and pro-worker shouldn’t be competing ideas.
Victoria’s prosperity depends on the people who build businesses, create jobs, provide services and keep our local economy moving.
I want a City Hall that makes it easier to start a business, supports local entrepreneurs, champions good jobs and keeps more of our spending in our community.
That means supporting Buy Local, co-operatives, social enterprises, Indigenous businesses and Canadian suppliers while reducing unnecessary delays and costs.
When our local economy succeeds, our whole community benefits.

Climate Preparedness & Resilience
Climate change isn’t a problem for tomorrow. It’s already changing Victoria today.
Hotter summers, wildfire smoke, heavier storms and rising seas are challenges we must prepare for now.
I believe climate leadership means reducing emissions while making our neighbourhoods, infrastructure and public spaces more resilient.
That means protecting our urban tree canopy, improving building efficiency, strengthening local food security and investing in practical solutions that protect both our environment and our community.
We can take ambitious climate action while being responsible with public dollars.

Transportation That Works for Everyone
It’s time to move beyond the bike wars and get Victoria moving again.
Whether you walk, cycle, drive, take transit or use mobility supports, our transportation network should work for you.
Congestion costs us time and money. I call it the hidden congestion tax, and we’re all paying it.
I support safer cycling, better transit, accessible streets and practical solutions that improve traffic flow without pitting neighbours against one another.
We need better planning, genuine consultation and transportation decisions that work for the whole community.

Some people have said that because I believe in treating people who are homeless with compassion, I’d let the problems on our streets carry on. That’s wrong, and I want to say so plainly.
Crime has to have consequences. Laws have to be enforced. And people who are sick or have no home need real help, not a discharge from a hospital onto the sidewalk. Leaving people out there isn’t compassion.
I’ve written out what I’d do, including how I’ll put the Province on the spot for what it has promised and what it has delivered. We can do better, together.
Please read it before you vote tomorrow:

Safe Streets That Stay Safe
We can be tough on crime, tough on failing systems, and deeply compassionate with people.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in Victoria, including residents, workers, businesses, visitors and people experiencing homelessness.
We must confront violence, exploitation and serious disorder while recognizing that mental-health crises, addiction, poverty and homelessness require more than enforcement alone.
I support effective policing, proactive prevention, appropriate healthcare responses and holding governments accountable for systems that repeatedly fail people.
The goal isn’t simply to move problems from one block to another. It’s to make our streets safer and keep them that way.

Housing People Can Afford
Building more housing matters. Making it affordable matters just as much.
Victoria should be a city where workers, students, families and seniors can afford to live, not just a place they can afford to visit.
I support building more homes, speeding up approvals, protecting existing affordable rentals and working with non-profit and co-operative housing providers.
But growth must also come with the infrastructure, services and neighbourhood planning people need.
Housing success isn’t just about counting new units. It’s about whether people can actually afford to build a life here.

Citizens First — Listen Before Deciding
City Hall belongs to you. It’s time it started listening.
Too many people in Victoria feel that decisions are made before their voices are heard. I want to change that.
As Mayor, I’ll bring forward a Citizens’ Assembly that gives everyday Victorians a meaningful role in shaping our city’s future. And if Council won’t fund it, I’ve pledged to pay for it from my mayoral salary.
Real consultation means listening before deciding, being transparent about the choices, and showing people how their input made a difference.

Ending Homelessness — From Managing It to Ending It
It’s time to stop managing homelessness and start ending it.
We’ve had enough plans, studies and promises. What Victoria needs now is leadership that brings housing, healthcare, mental-health services, addiction treatment and community partners together to deliver lasting results.
I believe we can make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring. That means preventing people from falling through the cracks and making sure no one is simply discharged from our public systems back onto the streets.
We need accountability, compassion and action.

A CHAMPION FOR THE PEOPLE OF VICTORIA AT CITY HALL
As we head into Election Day tomorrow, I want to thank everyone who has supported this campaign, shared their ideas, volunteered their time, and placed their trust in me. I am deeply grateful.
Tomorrow, I encourage everyone to get out and vote. I hope to have the opportunity to be your champion at City Hall.
Over the past several weeks, I’ve met so many extraordinary people working hard to make Victoria a better place.
One thing has become clear: We have the people, the ideas and the determination. What we need is a City Hall that works with us, not against us.
I want to be a mayor who champions the people doing the work, not one who takes credit for it.
In my latest blog post, I share what I’ve learned from these conversations and my pledge to stand up for our neighbourhoods, workers, small businesses, artists, housing advocates and community organizations.
I invite you to read my latest blog post and share it with your friends and neighbours.

Protect Belongings. Reduce Waste. Follow Through.
De Facto’s recent investigation tracked two tents and a cart donated to people living outdoors in Victoria. All three ended up in the landfill, raising serious questions about how the City handles belongings seized during bylaw enforcement. Residents and advocates have raised these concerns for years, including during Marianne Alto’s term as mayor.
Victoria already has a system for storing and returning belongings removed from public spaces. So why are usable possessions still ending up in the landfill?
Advance voting is open for three more days! You don’t have to wait for Saturday.
