@the_transit_guy@ShermanJeff@TearDown794 Milwaukee has such a vibrant and accessible downtown and you haven't stumbled across anything positive? Public Market, Third Ward, 3rd Street Market Hall? NM campus? Calatrava? Summerfest for goodness sake?
@the_transit_guy C'mon. Thats the worst two blocks of all of downtown Milwaukee. Take a photo of Broadway and St Paul two blocks away to the southwest to tell the real story of the vibrancy of downtown Milwaukee.
@gardMKE@PaddyMacMke So essentially it's like replacing Clybourn with McKinkey Blvd plus a few thousand cars, correct? McKinkey is +/- 100' across and such a wonderful pedestrian and biking experience
@IsaacRowlett When was the last time any of the people commenting on this post actually have visited the project? John Coury of Crestlight and his team at Colliers have done a phenomenal job of updating and rehabbing buildings on the site as well as planning redevelopment of parking lots.
@LafayetteCrump@TearDown794@Jbrostoff Looks like the program was a great success! But when do we get answers to some of the fair questions that have been asked? For example McKinley is +/- 90โ wide at Vel Phillips. How wide will Clybourn be at Broadway? Currently +/- 50โ but less with bump outs
@TracyKJohnson Phoenix Investors good enough for Wauwatosa when they acquired former JCPenney warehouse but not good enough for City of Milwaukee. So where does $5-$15M demo cost come from that the City is raising?
@JeremyLFojut No angle. The facts are that pure resi buildings donโt pay a BID assessment. Office and retail buildings pay BID assessments which are in addition to the property tax bill.
@JeremyLFojut 6) BID assessments because they โDonโt get any benefitโ. A topic for another day. The reality is that everyone on the panel today was supportive of the process and respected each other. Thatโs a lesson you could learn
