@NoLore My French brain first was "But of course they should be legally sanctioned to a harsh prison sentence! (Condamner)", and then I realised that the outrage was about expressing mere opposition to this genocide? Calvaire!
@rebels2008@JakeLandauTO Having a woman lose her identity in order to inherit her husband's is such an antiquated concept, it sounds insanely tribal to me. And I'm in my mid-40s. This went into law in 1981.
@matt_kercher@wickdchiq@davidpugliese It's fine, apparently you can just get your electricity from Ontario Hydro or even Hydro-Québec, if you want it maple-scented.
@JakeLandauTO Likeable means pleasant and courteous. Friend (not friendly) means going for drinks together after work, going to their place, hanging out on the week-end. And whatever drama might happen there can bounce back at work. There's a risk.
Montréal is a small island up north on the Adirondack line. Very few people dare to venture to this unexplored landscape, where the locals emit strange noises.
@Qizuaneuh@TheSimpsons Idem pour nous envers la VFF. Pourquoi toutes les voix sont un octave plus haut que l'original? Pourquoi un vocabulaire aussi ringard? Pourquoi le niveau de puissance des expressions de colère sont tant amoindries?
@kevlap017@JakeLandauTO@UrbaneUrban Oh, as a gay guy who was in the closet as a young teen, I'm well used to avoiding pronouns! :-P But it goes beyond that, people get confused with the French gendered words for nephew/niece, all the job titles, etc.
@JakeLandauTO@UrbaneUrban Yeah, it's more difficult with gendered languages, because you got to learn new words and ways to integrate neutrality in a very binary language, and some people would rather not deal with the endless questions and confusion from others. Sad, but understandable.
@kevlap017@aliceinempire It's a truly terrifying virus, because everyone who got infected once, even asymptomatic, still carries it and it reproduces, start attacking systems, reactivates cancers, messes with cognitive abilities, etc.
@kevlap017 Nah, nothing weird there. It's a good thing that you've had lots of happy moments without needing this. Plus, messing with one's brain chemical balance is always something that sounded risky to me.
