After 6 months of #BrumScrubs we've made a total of 22,673 items 🎉!
The next chapter will be as @sew_marvellous - a volunteer sewing group in Birmingham delivering all kinds of projects for local charities and community groups! Give us a follow to see what we're up to👋
Last week the #volunteers had a sneaky surprise for Marcie to say thank you and well done on the 6-month anniversary of #BrumScrubs!
Instead of scrubs and masks the bags were loaded with cards, mini crafts and even a homemade piece of bunting spelling out "WELL DONE MARCIE"🥳👏
After 6 months of #BrumScrubs we are changing into @Sew_Marvellous !
The next chapter of our journey as a volunteer sewing group will involve making all kinds of items to support local charities and community groups.
It's our 6 month #anniversary 🎉 We have now delivered 20,000 items 😀!
Thank you to all our donors, sewers & drivers for making it all possible.
#BrumScrubs was born in response to the urgent #NHS scrub shortage. We've also made bags, earguards and masks with @bigcommunitysew.
Meet our marvellous founder Marcie!
"I started #BrumScrubs on 8th April. I had just got divorced, we were in lockdown and I needed a project. I heard about the lack of scrub on the news and wanted to help. I manage the group, work full time and am mom to my lovely little boy."
Marcie and her mum were two very busy bees last night 🐝! Together they packed;
47 sets of scrubs for @Bham_Childrens
550 face coverings
54 scrubs for donation to Zimbabwe
33 hand sanitiser holders
39 mors bags for @TAWSociety
1 bag of haberdashery for @ArtsInTheYard
"Many thanks for all your help with supplying us masks. They will be used to support families and students of low income."
Another successful community delivery, this time to @HallGreenSch 🏫🎒

"I’m Lois and I was a matron. After retiring I bought a sewing machine and went on a course. I’ve loved being part of #ScrubHub it’s kept me going when I’m missing family and has rekindled my sewing confidence. I’ve just finished making a coat for myself!
#AmazingVolunteers 🙏💕
These stylish face covers were sewn with fabric from our Amazon wish list!
We still need fabric, elastic & more. Everything you buy will go directly into making masks for the local community 🙏!

Last week we dropped off a delivery of masks to Rubery Schools Community Swop Shop! This fantastic resource provides FREE school uniforms, PE kits, shoes, forest school clothes & more. They do a phenomenal job supporting local families 🏫👩🎓👨🎓
.@sewingbee's Peter🗣"It doesn't matter if you don't have a machine, or if you're bad at sewing, I can teach you to do this"
Sewing a face-covering can be simple - to make your own, why not follow this video from Peter?👇#BigCommunitySew#GotItCovered

@Mattjbaker01@bigcommunitysew@jessphillips we continue to do what we do, because it’s the right thing to do, not because we were asked to. Me, my sewing group, and thousands and thousands of sewists just like us, all over the UK.
Last week Wendu Wole from @coventrycc received 300 face coverings from #BrumScubs for @Bridges_Cov which supports newly arrived communities.
“We’re really grateful for these, especially as they are made by a community group. We are aiming to start our own sewing group!"
"I’m Jenny and I’ve been volunteering for #BrumScrubs since May. I’ve mostly been making scrubs, my husband and son cut out and overlock for me. If I had to take one project to a desert island, it would definitely be a knitted jumper!"
Thank you for all your hard work Jenny 💕
