@Halalcoholism I fondly recall hearing a South African on the BBC a few years ago talking about the necessity of fighting ISIS. Bless him, he really didn't get why the host was in fits of giggles every time he declared "We must devote all of our attention to farting arses!"
@DamCou I've also spent this week listening to the first album by Television Personalities, which - despite sounding like it was recorded in an attic with a mic wrapped in cotton-wool - has some corkers; "La Grande Illusion" being my favourite.
@DamCou I think "Best Friend" by The Beat is one of the most underrated earworms of that whole era. And there's a certain quirky brilliance to "Miss Gradenko" by The Police, about a love affair between two Soviet apparatchiks.
@Halalcoholism It is, of course, a well-known fact that the first action of the newly-founded CIA was to pay Mary Wollstonecraft 150 years of wage arrears.
@rickburin@twlldun I 100% agree about The Pogues, but it also saddens me that Kirsty MacColl's back catalogue isn't better known. "See That Girl", "Terry", "He's On The Beach"; wonderful pop songs, all but forgotten.
@DamCou Yeah, I guessed from the context of the tweet; was just messing about. I was born a music pedant and will die a music pedant (most likely beaten to death with a stack of my own first-edition vinyls).
