@dontplay_z How is it based on limitless growth? Capitalism works without growth. It’s just that capitalism forces growth if growth is possible which is a good thing.
As a 26yo Software Engineer at Big Tech what should I do if I don’t like software engineering anymore? Kinda stuck in a golden cage. Has anybody switched to Cloud
Solution Architect role? Any insights?
Banger post as I think the best programmers up until now have been the most technical interested ones. As the technical side of developing software was so complex. That is changing right now.
Main difference: Singapore had Lee Kuan Yew as their leader and mainly high IQ Chinese people building a country. They let only high quality people immigrate. Its that simple
Stephen King on when he'd recommend reproduction:
1st century: way too poor. don't
2nd century way too poor. don't
3rd century: way too poor. don't
4th century: way too poor. don't

That’s not true. A developed economy gives us the ability to choose what to do with our time. Look how much longer people in poorer and less capitalistic countries are working. Also it is not about how much somebody works but how useful their work is to others. And that is exactly what is rewarded with capitalism.
@CallumLyon imo the most important subject would be macro economics and mathematics/physics. After that sports. The rest won’t matter as much. More important would be discipline and responsibility aswell as western values (integrity, honesty etc.)
Yes that will be the only real skill left eventually for software products: “ What to build?”. Everything else does not matter. Every programming language and library just exists because it helps us build useful software products. These are only tools to achieve the end goal of a useful product or service. There is no intrinsic value in knowing this stuff if it is not needed anymore potentially for building great products.
