As I have gotten older, I’ve changed how I view athletes. Westbrook was someone who frustrated me for years. Then, I came to realize, he’s never cheated the game for one second. He plays as hard as anyone ever has. He’s never once gotten in trouble off the court. He seems the be great husband and father. And, you hear all types of stories about him helping in the community.

I’m a big Westbrook fan now.

The most sickening double standard in our society isn't just that we ignore male suffering. It’s that we actively consume it as entertainment.

​We claim to be a generation built on "empathy" and "mental health awareness," but the brutal reality is that our empathy has a strict gender requirement.

​like the "Body Positivity" hypocrisy
We built an entire global movement to ensure women are loved and protected at any size, shape, or age. We scream "be kind!" But the exact same society that preaches mental health will ruthlessly body-shame men for things driven entirely by genetics.
Short? Receding hairline? Struggling financially?

We demand unconditional, delicate acceptance for ourselves, but we grade men on a cruel, unforgiving physical and financial rubric.

Look at how the media programs us. If a man raises his voice or throws a drink at a woman on television, he is rightfully labeled a monster and canceled.
But if a woman slaps a man across the face, destroys his property, or verbally degrades his manhood? We all cheer and take it as comedy. It gets clipped and turned into a meme about "female rage." We have completely normalized the idea that female violence against men isn't abuse.

We claim to want a fair, equal society, but the truth is, we only weaponize empathy when the victim looks like us. Until we stop treating male pain as a public joke, all of these "mental health awareness" campaigns are nothing but performative garbage.
