I’ve got the dream wife (Sarah), the dream kids (Joy, Sean, Katherine, Lucy, and Hannah), and the dream job (support @desiringGod and elder @NorthChurchMN).
The Lord continues to meet and use Desiring God in remarkable ways for his name’s sake — our team just put together a page summarizing the ministry’s impact and ambitions. https://t.co/unHg05cQds
All of these years later, we still use the same homeschool method, and we love it. I will join Carole’s son, J. J., for a breakout on “A Dad’s Role in Homeschooling,” and right now I have titled my section “3 Encouragements for Fathers.”
Lord, give us ears to hear what the sky tells us every day.
“The heavens declare *the glory of God*, and the sky above proclaims *his handiwork*” (Psalm 19:1).
“The heavens declare *his righteousness*, for God himself is judge! Selah” (Psalm 50:6).
Praise is from God and to God:
“Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise” (Matthew 21:16).
God is passionate about being praised.
What a prayer!
“Say to my soul, ‘I am your salvation!’” —Psalm 35:3
Reminds me of Romans 8:16, “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”
Father, I believe you have saved me — please tell me that you have saved me!
Paul: “You yourselves know how I lived among you, **serving the Lord with all humility** and with tears and with trials, and how **I did not shrink** from declaring to you anything that was profitable, testifying of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
“I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not *cover* my iniquity; I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,’ and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.” —Psalm 32:5
Do you regularly fight distraction? God has the power to make you pay attention:
“One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, who was a worshiper of God. *The Lord opened her heart to pay attention* to what was said by Paul” (Acts 16:14).
From our salvation to our sanctification, God is passionate for his name.
“God first visited the Gentiles, to take from them a people *for his name*” (Acts 15:14).
“He leads me in paths of righteousness *for his name’s sake*” (Psalm 23:3).
“Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit.” —Acts 6:5
“Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people.” —Acts 6:8
Lord, fill our churches with Stephens!
