Even students who are economically well off benefit from this. Both of my high schoolers take part to gain a precious few extra minutes of sleep in the morning before early start times.
They also have friends that are less food secure. Partaking together is less stigmatizing.
Not getting the recognition it deserves:
@MetroSchools has locked in universal school meals into its operating budget. All children, no matter family income, will continue to have both breakfast & lunch available to them.
Dr. Adrienne Battle has made this a priority.

@AuntB I’m convinced there are two types of people in the world - and it explains so many other things:
There are people eople whose dads told them that they’re proud of them and those who didn’t have that.
Cherish it.
@lizzieohreally Lizzie, surely there’s a newsroom somewhere in America with a wildlife-gone-wild beat.
I’m not sure there’s anyone in America with more history or who’s more qualified.
Local NIMBYs make progress on a lot of problems difficult - we could do a lot in my local market (Nashville) to improve permitting - but larger conversations about housing density slow things down just as much.
Of course there are some other difficult problems adjacent to this one - entrenched mediocrity that is safe through deep-pocketed lobbies comes immediately to mind.
I don’t know exactly what the economics of a “public good startup” look like - but it’s worth spending some cycles penciling it out - because I can’t imagine many things with potential make a bigger impact.
One wonders if one could import this culture and forcing function loop into governments.
“That’s a wonderful idea. Step one is a permitting process which if you do everything right takes 12 weeks. There are more steps.” -> “Oh that imposes costs on society? Wow, never realized.”
@NewtonDominey@BenRMcIntyre@JonAcuff Streaks is about at granular as I’ve found. You can really tune it however you want - and the reminders across devices is pretty good when you’re just starting out and trying to remember.
Maybe some people should take some time to play @Guerrilla's Zero Dawn or @HorizonFWgame over the holiday weekend.
We all know how AI boy genius ignores speed and safety concerns turns out in the end.
Super grateful for friends old and new who check in on me each and every year when this day rolls around.
Some of us remember because we can’t forget.
I’m so thankful for every person who has a memory of that day and reaches out in kindness.
I’m eternally grateful for you.
I am excited to see @UTKnoxville system announce this new policy to guarantee admission to the top 10% of Tennessee's high school graduates.
This is a BIG DEAL and the right policy to keep our best and brightest in the state! https://t.co/5nPPNz9wIl
Gracious. I’m old enough to remember when procuring the equivalent of a National Security Letter against most recent former president would have been a very big deal.

I might add that I’m not totally unsympathetic to Twitter’s position – even Musk’s Twitter.
I trust Smith’s integrity, and understand the threat of tampering, but as Americans, we should be concerned when something like this is employed - even against the lowliest of citizens.
